    Game forum pruning

several forums have already been deleted due to long periods of inactivity. I will be sending out e-mails to several other forum members who have forums here that have not recieved a new post by them in at least 60 days to notify them of this.

If your forum hasnt had a post by you in 60 days or more, go post in it now, or it will be deleted by the end of the month.

    Re: Game forum pruning

If our forum gets deleted will we be allowed to ask for another one at a later date if we feel we actually have use for it? And even though I did post in mine recently you can go ahead and delete it. It was a highly unimportant post and before that it'd been months without any activity. And since I changed my screen name it doesn't make sense now anyway.

rather than delete it, I can change the name/description whatever.

people who let their forums collect dust before may not get new forums in the future.

Speaking of which...why did two different threads in my forum disappear? One was telling people that there was a problem with my game on the first day it was on the site, so that's not a problem that it was deleted. But in another thread, I was describing my ideas for my next RPG Maker game, and apparently one day that got arbitrarily deleted....or do they just not show up anymore unless something has been poste din it in the last 30 days or something? I'm guessing this is most likely the case. In which case, you can disregard this post...sorry.

threads in all forums are only set to be visible if they were made or replied to in the last 30 days. to see older threads, change the time time to "the beginning" where it says "From the last month" under "display options". we dont delete anything here, unless its spam.

            Re: Game forum pruning

Valk doesn't generally delete posts or threads except in this case. The threads are still there, the boards only show threads with posts from the past month unless if you ask for a longer display period (There's an option at the bottom of the forum).

              Re: Game forum pruning

I know nothing of VBulletin, but is it possible to set the whole forum to "hide" after the 30 days, like the threads?

Might be a decent compromise for those who are away while this waiting period happens.

              Or not.

              Just a thought.

              Peace.

if the forum hides, then theres no way for anyone to get to it again.

                  Re: Game forum pruning

So... setting it to show older threads wouldn't "unhide" the old forums?

                  Odd...

I thought that would be all or nothing.

                  No big loss.

                  What about a "Graveyard" forum?

That would let you keep to your ways of not deleting stuff and still unclutter the active area.

                  Just another thought...

                  MOO!
