This image comes from the new issue of Edge. According to what I've read, Nintendo showed these controllers that connect to the Wiimote behind closed doors at E3. I don't have the whole article though so, I don't know the details.
I know it'd be a pain to hold that N64 controller.
What Nintendo should do is make a few adaptors so that your old controllers can actually be used on the Wii. Otherwise I'm gonna miss my gold-painted N64 controller I won in a Nintendo Power contest for being one of the top 1000 people to get a time of less than 1 min 30 secs in Mario Kart 64's Mario Curcuit.

I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to buy all those. And if they were sold in one set it'd cost a grip. I guess if they're just optional collector's items type thing then cool. But I'll stick with the regular virtual console controller. It looks like it'll handle everything decently. And since I never owned any of those except an NES, I won't miss the original controller feel.
The only controller the Classic Controller doesn't quite emulate right would be N64 games, if Zelda 64 on GameCube is any indication. It's easier to press a C-button in a precise direction than it is a C-stick. Then again, it might've just been that the N64 A/B/C buttons were arranged very much like the Ocarina in the Zelda 64 games.
Still, the N64 controller has the worst analog stick I've ever seen.

I have most of those already, all except the right middle one. In good condition too.
Same here, used to have a Turbo-Graphx but sadly sold it though my controller looked better than that, I think they came out with a newer version of the controller, of course I only had three games for it (MotoRoder, Pebble Beach Golf, and Falcon 3.0). Also interesting to note that the TurboGraphics only came with one controller port (possibly the only console to do so), but you could buy a five port multitap for it, and the first system to support CD-ROMs. I have had to get quite a few replacement N64 controllers though, because the analog stick was made very poorly (not in design just quality of parts used). It really sucks when about every 3 seconds your analog stick loses calibration.
But yeah I would much rather see an adapter for each one than have to buy new old controllers. They already do that for PC so I don't see it being a huge deal for the Wii (though I'm sure if Nintendo doesn't do it some third party will).
Adapters would be nice but, I'm willing to bet that most people don't own these old controllers. It would make more business sense to sell the controllers with new plugs.
How about they just make a regular controller. I really don't want to get stuck using the wii controller. I have also gotten rid of any of my older system controllers before the gamecube. Ok, not me but my mom. So please just make a regular contoller for it. I think I am the only one walking this road. Everyone else seems to like the wii controller.
