    MP...Useless????

Hey, guys, I have a question. When I make a Special Skill (Ex: Blazing Sword)I put the number of the Points the Skill will cost (Ex:12 Points) and everything seems to go right. Later, when I give a try to my game, I use the Skill to see how it looks like, and it looks pretty good. However, the points consumed by the Skills are not my character`s MP...but his HP!!!!!!!
I don`t want to use their HP for Skills, the MP is there for that!!!! And I don`t want to make Skills that don`t cost any points, the game wouldn`t be the same, I`d be very EASY!!!!!
Please, tell me how can I use the MP, `cause I can find a way to do it!!!!!

My memory's a little fuzzy, but I believe all skills automatically consume HP, while spells consume MP. It would have been nice to have another pool of points set aside for skills or a gauge or anything else that did't hasten the character's death, but it can be overcome with some careful balancing of stats. When I was tinkering I made sure skills had a substantially lower costs than spells, and I had to be sure that the skills were effective and called-for otherwise the player would never use them.
So you're a fish out of water...
    Keep swimming.
    What else can you do?

yes, skills consume HP and magic consumes MP. so, if you want a character to be more biased towards fighting and skills, give him/her less MP and more HP. if a character is more biased towards spell-casting, give them less HP and more MP.

just be careful not to make your skills wind up killing your character, and you'll be fine.

Or just call the magic a skill. Then it uses mp and still looks cool.

Auron, in the special skills editor, the screen that looks like this:

          Basic Skill Settings
          Lv. 1
          Skill
          Attacks
          HP Damage
          i iii
          0
          0
          None

Under the level, click on the word "Skill." Here is where you select your "Skill type". Change "Skill," which consumes HP, to "Magic," which consumes MP.

See the thing is in RPG Maker 3, you have Skills that are set as skills (using HP) and Skills that are set as magic (using MP). I'm not sure why they didn't set it up in a clearer way.

When you're battling in your game, you don't have a category called magic to select.

In battle, this is what is displayed:
          Attack
          Defense
          Use Items
          Use Skills
          Escape

To use your skills (HP consumers), you select "Use Skills," and to use your magic (MP consumers) you also select "Use Skills."

          Hope that helps.

this was also the way it was set up in RPGM2, so it isn't anything new.

anyway, yeah, you could do what Cloud said, too. whatever works. personally, i just make the skills cost less, and give the spell-casters more MP.

Thanks to all of you for answering my question. I really had no idea about te diference between Skill and Magic. Although its can make your characters die in battle, I find it very original ad maybe I can use it.
Thanks to all of you again.

It really isn't original at all. RPGM1 had it,even. Actually, I think that it was in a few Dragon Warriors, not sure, though.
