BOTH PS3s available at launch will be "basic in nature". Sony wants to upgrade the console throughout it's life, at least once a year. they plan on future versions having reconfigured processors, more ram, stuff like that.
Meaning just like the PC gaming scene, you're going to have to upgrade if you want to play the newest games. Will you be able to purchase the upgrades seperately and add them to your system yourself? or are you going to have to buy a whole new PS3 every year?
no one is going to be happy about this if they do it. we buy consoles to get away from the endless upgrading of the PC market.
