The A key on my laptop broke off today. I have no idea how or why. It was closed and sitting comfortably on a chair all day. What the ****!! I bought it off eBay last November. This isn't the first thing to break. A while back the little switch you press to remove the battery broke off so now it just slips out whenever it wants. And in a couple spots it seems like the casing is loose or something. I bought another refurbished laptop on uBid a few years back and that feel apart too. It still works oddly enough but the screen part is hanging off of the keyboard part, the trackpoint stopped working, and the screen doesn't show the right colors. I am never ever buying ANYTHING used ever again. Except maybe a car, assuming I ever buy a car.

Re: I'm never buying anything used again
You should never buy expensive things off of eBay. Except for Canada."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Yeah... don't buy used computers. The problem with buying online is that you can't test it out before you buy.
Used monitors, though? Good to go. My brother bought a monitor from a pawn shop for $10 a few months back, and it's working great."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Re: I'm never buying anything used again
I've kind of made a rule for me on eBay. Never buy anything over $50 (not counting shipping a handling.) Suprisingly, I find some of the cheaper stuff I buy to be in better condition than expensive once. That is probably just my experience. Oh, never buy something without a digital picture of the product. Reason is, you can find out the date the pic was taken and make sure that it is currently in the presented condition. Always, check their feedback before bidding. The lowest possitive feedback I would bother with is 87%, though it is best to go with people that have near 100%. Sometimes their are assholes, that try to over charge with shipping. If something seems fishey it probably is. Last bit of advise I have is to read everything including the small text, if you are seriously considering bidding on an item. You may not get what you wanted if you're not careful.I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Re: I'm never buying anything used again
as a rule i stear clear of electronics and used. i only get for free from friends or ask my uncle whos a computer genous to find me something from his computer graveyard. i bought a labtop 2 weeks ago and the y button popped off, so im gona bring it back - if i got it off ebay it would probaly be packed with untreatable viruses and totaly ready to explode from internal damage.
sorry, saving a buck isnt worth it when buying a decent product you want last.
