What type of comics do you prefer?

Since comics are taking the hollywood strip I may as well post this.

I like MARVEL more than DC. But there is Batman.

I prefer manga so far, but only because I find it difficult to find an American mainstream comic book that's the right mix of funny and serious that I enjoy. If I had to pick between the big two, though, I'd pick Marvel. A little more progressive and you have to be insane to understand anything that happens in DC anymore.

A big solid "other" on this one. Because there's a whole lot besides DC, Marvel, and the massive bulk that falls under "Manga."

Comics aren't my thing, but there's quality work there. Dark Night Returns, The Maxx, And JTHM are the only things that really stand out in my mind right now.

I also recently read marvel zombies at a friends house, quite entertaining.

DC, because I've always been a Batman/Superman fangirl even in my Marvel years. The behind the scenes rigamorale is like watching a soap opera, too.

The thing about DC is that it's ok to get major character worship within the comics because these really are heroes that are looked up to the world over. No suspension of disbelief there. Marvel characters (aside from some notable examples) are only as good as whoever's writing them at the moment, because their appeal is primarily plot-based, and we all know how good comic plots can be. Manga has WAY too much fanservice and repetitive plotlines/character types for me to keep coming back for more, and the topical relevency and tactfulness is worse than DC. There are other good comics, but I like the appeal of a sprawling interconnected universe full of proven superheroes that lots of writers are working on simultaneously. It's just more fun that way.

This is hard for me. I would have said DC easily but then all of a sudden the PTB suddenly seemed to say "Modern Age? Screw that. We're going back to the Silver Age!" and suddenly all the stuff I liked is being pushed aside to bring back all this other stuff that I could care less about.

If it was a choice up there I'd say Ultimate Marvel. As it isn't, I'm abstaining.

Voted DC because Batman is the greatest creation ever but I'd read ANYTHING if it's GOOD.

The only DC stuff I really like is the Vertigo line. I like Marvel a lot more. I don't think I've ever even read a full manga. Unless you count naughty ones online.

I gave up on DC and Marvel a few years ago. Now I mostly read manga and stuff that falls into the "other" category.

Online comics. If there's a regular comic store anywhere around here, I don't know about it. I know a place some distance away that has a small section for manga, but it's kinda hard choosing which one to get when the majority are over 10 volumes long.
