    Long live Mister Softee

"You never saw anyone eat ice cream like this man."

We never had ice cream trucks in our neighborhood, but I always wished we had.

All I know is that Dave has some weird obsession with the Mr. Softee mascot. He likes the design or something.

The ice cream has melted. I love ice cream trucks, and these guys pioneered the thing.

      Jingle, jingle.

Wasn't Mr. Softee the ice cream man of legend in Pete and Pete?

I grew up with an ice cream man going through our neighborhood.

Then again, and I think this will tell you a LOT about my childhood/neighborhood/etc, we also had a milkman that not only would deliver to our house, he'd come right in and put it in the fridge for us. We never bothered locking the door except when we went on vacation.

Ooh, the Ding-Ding Man! That's what we called him when we were kids, 'cause of him ringing that bell. I used to get ice cream from him all the time. Can't remember my specific favorites, but I remember getting a Flintstones yogurt pop and some red/white/blue treat. Ah, memories.

We still have a van or two that wanders around town during the summer, but now they play an obnoxious song that only a 2-year-old could enjoy. You can hear that song playing from several blocks away, and he drives slow. For us adults, we simply go to the ice cream vending machine in the center of town (you have to wonder how that can survive outside in the heat). That thing's menu is lacking.

YOU LIKE ICE CREAM. YOU LIKE ICE CREAM. YOU LOVE IT. YOUR EXISTENCE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT ICE CREAM.

Yes, but that doesn't mean I have to get it from a truck that goes
HELLO! Da, da, da-doo, da, dee, die, dee QUACK-QUACK, da, da, da-doo, da, dee, die, dee WOOF-WOOF!
                        Over, and over again.
