PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
Re: PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
"[Sony] may be forced into adding vibration back if the game developers and the gamers completely throw up their arms and say, 'This is not an interactive experience, especially at $599,'" Viegas continued.
"Vibration adds that third dimension—sight, sound and touch. Without touch... it's like playing in the closet with the lights off; there's no feedback, takes completely away from the gameplay," he concluded.
...Wow, i love it.
Hmmmm, what sounds more "interactive" to you? Vibration feedback when you get hit, or whatever, or movement of the actual controller itself affecting what happens on screen?
This is about the stupidest thing i have ever heard.
The Monkey Ball series will have the perfect platform with the PS3.
Re: PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
And i guarantee, if the PS3 has been priced at the same amount as the 360, people wouldnt be hating on Sony so bad, even about the so called 'theft of Nintendo's idea'.
People are just mad that the PS3 is going to be so much. And the only way you are going to get Sony to do anything about it is to not buy a PS3...atleast until they draw you in with the great games.
Re: PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
LOL NINTENDO.
All joking aside, I hope they settle this. The PS3 with the basic motion sensing controller just seems so lame. a working dual shock that has basic motion sensing abilities is a lot cooler. its the best controller ever (In my opinion), they need to keep it that way. ADD STUFF, NEVER TAKE AWAY.
Re: PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
I wish Sony would just come up with their own technology and patent it, instead of fighting with Immersion, because one of their stupid employees made a mistake.
I'd love to see rumble and motion sensing, but seeing as how i turn rumble off in most games nowadays, the rumble isnt as big of a deal to me, which my be why i'm not caring as much as others.

I think very few developers will use their "innovative" motion sensing. If it isn't done right, there is no use in adding the functionality. 6 degrees is pretty limited, Im sure certain games will use it but over all I doubt it will be touched on that much. Devs will be moer concerned with rumble then sonys motion sensing.

Re: PS3 controller could possibly have rumble feature?
I hate vibration and I turn it off in all my games, it's distracting and annoying. The whole 6 degrees of motion dealie sounds cooler, but like others have said, I doubt too many games will take advantage of it. I could see it being used in FPSs and fighting games though.

Because Immersion's patent is so broad it's hard to escape it. It's as generalized as vibrating motors..

Then i dont even see why immersion won then. i mean hell, anything with vibrating motors should belong to immersion then. Doesnt sound to me like sony did anything wrong, except come up with an idea that infringed on a patent that sounds too vague anyway.
