I just saw Home Alone 4. It was reeking low-budgetness the moment the title card popped up. "Kevin" only layed out three or four traps in the final sequence, it was very obvious who the secret villain was, it is supposed to be a direct sequel to the first two Home Alones yet "Kevin" says he's 8 in this one when he already mentioned he was older in Home Alone 2, the credits lasted a minute at the most (and in big text), and the ending didn't come close to making me feel like crying. In the end, I felt like I watched a TV Christmas special.

Why do direct-to-video movies suck?

Re: Why do direct-to-video movies suck?
Well yeah, there are a few exceptions. I especially liked Sub-Zero. You'd think they originally intended to put that in theatres.Yeah, they usually suck. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker was pretty boss, though.
I liked the first three Home Alone movies. Their DVDs suck, but they put effort into the actual movie-making. Home Alone 4, they pretty much slapped it together.
I was hesitant about renting Home Alone 4 from the start though. Knowing it was direct-to-video and was supposed to be a sequel to the first two except with a new cast. But hey, three movies for $3 was a nice deal.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 05-22-2006, 02:40 PM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Draygone, think about the question you are asking. There is a reason why these movies don't go to theaters. Possible reasons for not reaching theaters: 1)Money issues 2)No theater would except it 3)The creators know it sucks or won't do well, so bringing it straight to video is a better idea.
I won't claim that those are accurate, but they seem logical enough to me.
PS: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker was da bomb!I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

I'm not saying direct-to-video movies need to be theatre-quality. I'm just saying that they need to be good. Like somewhere in between theatre-quality and TV series quality.
As long as we're on the subject, I'm just curious. Why don't you like the Home Alone movies? Don't you like it when crooks get smacked in the face with a couple of paint cans?

The third was disappointing. I was hoping for Kevin vs the burglars again. But I guess a 16-year old home alone vs burglars isn't as interesting. But at least they didn't recast for a different Kevin and crew for it."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. There's more sucky direct-to-video movies. At least, %-wise."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: Why do direct-to-video movies suck?
I always hated the home alone movies. Couldn't stand it when my family watched it during christmas time so I would go play videogames.
All I did was yell, ha, made it to level 50, suddenly my family moves from being stuck to the tv. I think I saved them from becoming tv zombies.I was like a Cloud once!!!!
