Belize produced its own soap opera show recently. I think it lasted 10 episodes or something. It was the only locally-made "drama" show that we had, as everything else was just local news and a few talk shows.
Never watched it myself, of course, but I saw commercials that showed clips of it and laughed at how incredibly melodramatic everyone acted. Was invited to the premiere party too, but didn't attend as I have no interest in showing the slightest bit of patronage to any soap opera, much less a really, really horrible one.

I was hoping Belize would skip the soap opera stage in its television evolution and, I dunno, go straight to a sci-fi series or something. We could dress up our spider monkeys and pretend their aliens.

Mexican soap operas are the best...there was this one called "Fiero" we watched on lunch break where people would always talk with guns aimed at each other. It was incredibly comical.

I can't stand those shows! My mom watches them, and they are worse then Lifetime Movies! Everything is cheesy and predictable...

Every single one of them movies has some manly badass in his 20s or 30s raping some woman. It's like, you can cheer the badass on to point a gun/knife/bat at a woman by yelling "RAPE HER! RAPE HER!" in your best Beavis voice.

And every single time he does! It never fails.


Not that I condone rape or find it funny or anything, it's just these movies are so predictable to the point of humor.

Bastard Out of Carolina was like that, only the guy was in his 40s and he raped and beat his step-daughter of 12.

And Sci Fi channel has started playing that retarded soap opera during the day. Passions, I think.

Passions is the only soap opera I watch. It's hilarious. It's got all the old soap cliches but also demons, witches, and a bunch of other idiotic crap.

The best thing about all soap operas is how something like a Christmas or New Year's party lasts two weeks but a 3 year old kid goes upstairs Friday and comes down as a 16 year old "heatthrob" on Monday and eventually the kid is the same age as their parents.
