    Shadowrun for XBox 360

    http://www.shadowrun.com

I can't wait to play it. But I'm disappointed the Shadowrun name was tacked onto a game with little/no RPG elements or any story connections to the P&P game. It shouldn't be called Shadowrun.

It's strayed far from Shadowrun. They essentially gutted it. It looks like a great game, but it isn't Shadowrun, in my opinion.

I could kick myself. I had Shadowrun for the SNES when I was a kid but I sold it.

I wish this was for something other than the X-box 360.

The interface for the XBox 360 one looks horrible. The Genesis is my favorite, and I wish that would have been expanded upon.

Ideally, it would closely follow the P&P game, but given its complexity, probably best made as a GTA-like game with a shitload of RPG elements and lots of subgames(matrix, cracking maglocks, ect.).

I've always envisioned the ultimate Shadowrun game as being a MMORPG, complete with riggers, deckers, shamans, mages, street samurai, and all the races, orks, trolls, dwarves, elves, dragons, ect. With a MMORPG for instance, you might be able to create a dragon decker who can also cast magic...

Sadly, this looks to be a really decent first person shooter without much story related to Shadowrun. Looks like a good game, but a letdown as far as the Shadowrun franchise is concerned. Shadowrun shouldn't be anything resembling an Unreal or Halo knockoff...

I also loved the SNES version, and I no longer have it either. All my SNES games got stolen a while back, including *sob* Ogre Battle and Shadowrun. I got stuck on one part of Shadowrun, though. I couldn't get past this certain dragon. On a related note, I also used to play the P & P game a good number of years back (probably 15 or so)....my friends went to a con where there was a Shadowrun gaming thing set up, and they met some people from FASA. The FASA people liked the adventure they were running so much (it involved 3 GMs, and 2 teams who were simultaneously going for the same goal, but didn't know about the existence of each other) that they gave my friends free Shadowrun books and a tour of FASA headquarters. There was even talk about publishing their adventure, but I don't know what happened with that, as soon after, I kinda lost track of said friends. Just thought I'd share.

I got SR 4th edition awhile back, but never had a chance to play any adventures yet (I mostly use the D20 system). I've always loved the system.

I doubt this would be a reason for me to buy a 360, but the idea of a new game is intriguing. It'll probably end up on PS3 as well.

I'm not surprised at the change in design philosophy. FASA is no more, so SR is run by Wiz Kids now.

                  P.S. Genesis Shadowrun is #1!!!!

The best Shadowrun game in my opinion was unfortunately only released in Japan.

I've always envisioned the ultimate Shadowrun game as being a MMORPG, complete with riggers, deckers, shamans, mages, street samurai, and all the races, orks, trolls, dwarves, elves, dragons, ect. Have you ever played Neocron? It's essentially Shadowrun THE MMORPG with different names because the developers couldn't license it. It's one of the few deep and involving MMORPG's left that don't degrade into tireless whine sessions or players who refuse to let you join their party because you don't have ULTIMATE GOD SWORD LV 55. Your skill in battle is 30% stats, 70% actual player skill which makes it 10x more interesting.

I always figured the perfect Shadowrun game would play out like Vampire Bloodlines. It would be a first person game but with heavy rpg elements. First person rpg's always have the best atmospheres (Arx Fatalis, Ultima Underworld, The Elder Scroll series) and including all the skills and implants of Shadowrun with a identical huge, sprawling map of Seattle would make me cream my pants on the spot.

Ahh, the Sega CD Shadowrun. Never got the chance to play it. It looked interesting.

I've had an interest in Neocron, but never bothered to obtain and play it. I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings. Money became an issue and I just couldn't afford online RPGs.

And imagine being able to create a Troll street Samurai to kick ass on the streets of Seattle. Think of the possibilities of a MMORPG. I'd be committing terrorist acts against the Saiwaise Nuclear plant in Redmond Barrens on a routine basis... *drool*

I'd be a Dwarf Shaman who follows Rat only because that was my first ever character a long time ago.

I could only imagine how cool a 3D representation of Thon or Jester would be like with today's technology. There's so much to be had with Shadowrun and they're wasting it on a simple team multiplayer game.

I loved breaking into corp buildings and stealing all they contain.

That game had so much depth for a genesis game. Sadly, even with 256 bit games now, the gameplay depth of 16-bit Shadowrun still goes unmatched... People go gaga over GTA. Shadowrun did what the 3d GTA games did 2 system generations earlier, with far more style and complexity.

Ok, I might as well say this.

Shadowrun for the 360 is awesome. Simply Awesome.
I have a few gripes about it, but I'll save that for later. First off, its a FPS deathmatch styled game, much the same as Unreal tournament or more specificly, Counterstrike. You run around a level killing your friends, and sometimes (if you are lucky) even enemies. The game allows you to use both standard weapons, based on the real world, Nifty weapons, such as a katana, and magic... Yes, Magic.
From what I saw of the magic portion, there will be various spells that allow you to heal and revive your friends, barbique your oponents, and even *gasp* cloak yourself. As for the technological aspects, You can give yourself enhanced vision to allow you to see where your enemies are, and if you are close enough, actually see them through walls. You also can purchase a glider, which allows you to fall from high places without taking damage.
There is a single player game, but it rates on my gripe list. In reality, its much in the same line as unreal tournament. it consists of a classic deathmatch in a normal arena with a bit of story tacked on for good measure. As for my only sereous gripe. The decker class (yes, I know, the best in game) Is not present in this release. According to the devs, they are saving that for a later release.

                            Anyway... Yeah... E3 was fun

Shadowrun for the SNES kicked my ass back in the day, but it was the most pleasurable ass-kicking of my life. Unfortunately this is for the Xbox 360 so I probably won't play it for another ten years.
