The highly-anticipated reworking of the original MegaMan game for PSP is nearing release. As mentioned previously countless times, Old Man Inafking pulled out all the stops for this title.
Amongst the things we already know:
- A whole new game with a cutesy, yet very fluid graphical style
- Greater insight as to how the whole thing started with cutscenes, battle banter and the like
- Two new Robot Masters: Oil Man and Time Man
- The original game is available to play, but with the game's revamped 3D graphics (it sports classic NES music, though)
- Enemies from later MegaMan games
- Three difficulty modes for all skill levels
- A 100-Stage Challenge Mode
- The ability to create your very own stages with ease, from the narrowest pitfalls to the enemy placements to the boss lairs, and share them with others around the world
In addition to all that, Capcom will be providing special Stage Construction Mode packs for download and use every now and then (including the original, 8-bit stage tiles and backgrounds!). Furthermore, upon meeting certain criteria, you can unlock MegaMan's ability to slide and use his charge shot, which he couldn't even do 'till MegaMan 3 and 4, respectively.
If that's not enough, here is arguably the game's greatest feature: For the first time ever, you have the ability to play as any of the eight Robot Masters in addition to MegaMan, and even his little sister Roll (whom attacks with her mighty sweeping broom) in the story, challenge AND construction modes. Not to mention armorless MegaMan.
And we thought Maverick Hunter X was great. This is turning out to be a dream come true for MegaMan fans such as myself. This game alone instantly makes my PSP investment worthwhile.

It's things like these that remind me as to why I love videogames in the first place.
