Simple question. Are there any drawbacks with the free membership? Like limit of pictures uploaded, or picture size limit, or spammail galore. Stuff like that.

Re: Asking about Deviant Art
No limits besides you don't get to view like 150 thumbnails per page and stuff like that. You get unlimited downloads, unlimited uploads, and a varity of ways to reach out to the community. I know people who have a free membership and over 500 images. So, nothing special. If you do get a page, you have to tell me so I can watch you. :P My Login there is the same as here just without the "_" and with "-"...
The only drawback to DA is that there are alot of people who are obsessed with popularity, and it's one of the worse for art thieves, but if you just want a free space to post your art without having to deal with any tricky HTML, then it's a pretty good place.
A few others to try are like The Art Conspiracy(With lots of diffrent sections), Epilouge(For the "Really good" people), Sheezy Art(slow and somewhat sucky), and Elfwood (which IMO has gone to ****, but I'm bitter)
Hope that answers your question..if rather long winded. If you need any more info on it, give me a PM and I can tell you any tales of woe or happiness on DA. :P

Re: Asking about Deviant Art
If anybody stole my art, I'd take that as a mega-huge compliment. (Most of) My art sucks. But I figure it's not-blinding enough to let people see. (And it gives me a good reason to practice more.)"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: Asking about Deviant Art
Oh yeah? Well, here's my most recent piece of art (not counting a mock-up GBC screenshot).
*click*
The drawing was actually in pencil. It just looks like blue and black because of auto-fixing (the pencil was too light, otherwise).
This isn't my best piece of art. I got lucky with a couple pieces that actually turned out quite decent compared to the rest. But stuff like this is currently the usual result of my artistic attempts."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Awww, it's adorable! You have alot of potential, a bit of advice tho, I would run far away from lined paper. I found that it teaches you to "cheat" and it takes away from the lines of your artwork. You have alot of potential and I'd like to see more.

And the least-expected answer is... *looks at answer card* ...Googlyborf? I'm sure "it's adorable" was one of the least-expected answers, though.Awww, it's adorable!
As for the lines, I sorta am without choice at the moment. I'm using a book that I originally intended to use to write down my dreams. I never did that, and the book was collecting dust, so I decided to use it to restart my interest in drawing. (Which I did a lot of when I was younger, though I think I restricted myself to train and video game map drawings.)
I figure I'll worry about using something like printer paper once my art gets too good for lined paper. Or until I run out of pages. Though, considering there's something like 80 pages left (and I've mostly been using both sides), I would have to hope it wouldn't take that long.
So, what's this "cheating" that you mentioned?"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

It's really not cheating persay as learning proper proportions and such by memory. The lines will get you accustomed to learning to draw by placing a line between lines one and two, rather then using your mind/proportions based upon the image drawn. Like I use to draw on paper knew that all my women were about 16-17 lines, and my men were 21-25 or so (not that small, but you get my idea.) When I went away from lined paper, I learned to use the full image to figure out proportions, such as a woman is 6-7 heads high, her shoulders are two heads across, her hands stop a bit below the crotch, your feet are as long as your forearm from wrist to elbow, ect. If you learn these things in the early phase, it will help you alot better to break free of the lines.
Another form of basic images is drawing out a stick figure and using "circles and pipes" to get the idea of how you want proportioning and posing and such. As silly as it sounds, look at a few how to draw comic books for help on that, and pick up a basic anatomy book. :P They help out even when drawing anthros.Last edited by Libby; 05-08-2006, 07:05 AM.

Re: Asking about Deviant Art
Is it a subconsious thing with the lines? I don't really pay attention to them when I draw.
I know full well about drawing circles and spheres and all that other geometry when creating art, and I've tried doing so. But I have an easier and more fun time drawing these characters without all the prep work. There's the occasional mistake to be erased and I have a little trouble drawing anything that isn't a simple profile or frontal shot, but I'm more likely to actually finish them.I'm 23 in a month, and I have the artistic talent of a 6-year-old. In the past two years I've finished a grand total of 16 drawings, with very few involving more than a half-hour of my time, if even that, and only two involving any sort of scenery. Between two years ago and sometime in the 5th grade, I've almost done no drawing. And I already mentioned what I restricted myself to drawing back then. If I knew anything about making better-looking (not matted) fur and shading, it'd look a little less like some cute drawing that a child thought up.How old are you?
*looks through notebook*
Yeah, I think I might hold off on putting up the Pikachu anthro. Needless to say I haven't even attempted another Pokemon since."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Re: Asking about Deviant Art
Okay, against my better judgement, I got myself a Deviant account. Not much to see yet, as I'm posting all my art from crappiest to not-quite-as-crappy (a few might not wind up as "scraps"), and only a little at a time. So, if you want to see any of my "decent" art, you'll want to wait a little bit before looking. Unless you intend to make fun of my craptastic early attempts (all with commentary, as I love doing commentary). Just look at them from earliest to latest.
My account name is Draygone.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 05-15-2006, 05:39 PM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change.
