    Save The Internet

As of wednesday, the internet will be in the hands of AT&T. ( I never thought I'd type that. )

    http://www.savetheinternet.com/

Once again, big media screws us, and we become enslaved by their rules and gone will be the internet as we know it. The rich will get richer, and the powerful more powerful.

    Hoooray.

Meh, the Internet is full of slackers and needs to be destroyed anyways.

      Re: Save The Internet

This has been in progress for years. Once it became mainstream, the internet became a bastion for critical thinking that could rarely be found elsewhere, and the power elite did not like this.

Where else can you find news stories that your media doesn't want to tell? Where else can you freely express your opinion to potentially hundreds of thousands, and even millions, of individual people, with such regularity? Where else can you find such a wide array of information, without having to spend hours digging for it at a library(even if the content may be watered down)?

So of course big business and big government both want to radically alter it. It threatens to displace what power they have and return some of it to ordinary people(or at least the ones with computer access).

But the internet is the only place that I exist anymore. I don't want to be destroyed. Hmm... It would be kind of ironic; God of Destruction destroyed by AT&T.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Could also be that it's over, considering Congress is supposed to see this before they make their decision Wednesday.

                            Re: Save The Internet

The whole point of the internet is that nobody should own the internet. This is what happens when the checks and balances are not equal and opposite.

Even if they pass this and I get 300 more cookies there should be hope that the supreme court will find this unconstitutional. The internet is a worldwide freedom of speech. Freedom of speech should be FREE.

Wouldn't this also be causing some sort of monopoly on the internet "buisness?" It would force alot of smaller "buisnesses" to loose alot of pageviews because of the limits on uploading, and therefor loose buisness. It's horrible and I stand against it 100%.
