Forgive my nerdiness, but...(Now the MTG discussion topic)

Who else here plays Magic: The Gathering?
I have waited to make this topic until now out of boredom.
I play every week with my friends, what about you
    pavilionites?

I once got a set. Got tired of it real quick. No fun when there's nobody around to play with.

A friend of mine got me into Magic back in high school (1999). He bought me a couple decks. There's some card shops around here I could probably find people to play with but I never tried. I got Magic Online back when they were including it with game mags. I still haven't bought a virutal deck and all. I just play the free version with the prebuilt decks. I like Yu-Gi-Oh more than Magic though. I got YGO Online in Shonen Jump but I don't have broadband so I can't play it.

There's this free program called Apprentice that lets you play Magic The Gathering online. There's a patch that makes it work with Yu-Gi-Oh too. Hell, probably a patch for the Pokemon too.

just do a google search for it.

I play, every Friday at the very least. Just bought a zombie deck from a friend for $25, and it hits hard. Like, 10+ damage a turn. Woot.

I usually play just red and black, never together, but that will change on May 5th(my birthday), when the new set comes out.

Back in 1993-1994, I was heavily into Magic. Spent like $300.00 on cards (alot for being in high school). Had a decent handful of friends that I could play with on a regular basis, including my high school girlfriend. Wow I forgot how much time i put into that game. I eventualy parted ways with all my Magic partners, And was unable to find new ones. my shoebox of cards has long since collected dust. Sad just thinking about it.

Someone once try to get me into playing Magic before. Half way of him explaining the rules he turned blue... I guess because my head couldn't take it anymore and began choking him. Don't worry guys he is just fine, my point is I just thought their was too many rules and they hurt my head.

I played it for a long time. I also tried to do it competitively, but I quit that eventually because I'm poor and it takes a lot of the $$$ to make a deck that can actually win.

My money is better spent on WoW anyway.

I suppose, if anything, it's nice that the card game doesn't focus as much on collecting them all as Pokemon did. I stopped playing that one because it was costing too much money.

                        Re: Forgive my nerdiness, but...

Used to play, from Revised to whatever set had the Avatars (Mercadian Masques Expansion). I really didn't like all the new abilities you had to play ever sense Tempest came out with Shadow, so I quit.

I still have my White/Green deck which was Type II for the MM set. Ancestral Masque (+2/+2 per Enchantments in play on Creature) plus 18 other enchantments and a whole bunch of weenie creatures.

Let's just say a 81/81 Llanowar Elf at turn 6-8 or a 6/7 Flying Teathered Griffin on the second turn was pretty damn neat.

                          Re: Forgive my nerdiness, but...

I prefer making at least three goblins a turn by using Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker(makes a copy of a creature you control until end of turn) on Siege-Gang Commander(comes into play with three 1/1 goblin tokens), until I get about 15 or so, then playing Reckless One(power/toughness equal to goblins in play) and throwing Bravado on it(+1/+1 for each other creature), then next turn copying it with Kiki-Jiki and attacking with everything.

                            I hate Goblin decks.

I have a deck full of shadow creatures. It has the benefit of ~3 turn kills. Dauthi Warlords rule.
