    Down-a-console Rule

    The down-a-console rule.

RPGM1- has like SNES graphics but was on PS1
RPGM2- has like PS1 graphics but on PS2
RPGM3- has like PS1 graphics but on PS2

So I suspect if one will be on PS3 it will have graphics as complex as PS2 graphics.

    What's your take?
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

    Re: Down-a-console Rule

I've never seen a PS1 game that looked like RPGM3. If anything, RPGM3 looks like a first-year PS2 game. Plus the game wasn't really computer-intensive, so it wasn't too hard to allow such decent graphics.

Likewise, one must also look at RPG Tsukuru 4. RPGM1 looked more like a Genesis game than anything else (sounded like one too, actually), RPG Tsukuru 4 looks like a mid-lifespan SNES game. At least, judging by the few screens of it I've seen. And because of how super-pixelly the textures of PS1 games are (with few exceptions) compared to N64's smoother but blurry textures, I'd say RPGM2 looks more like an N64 game.

So, it's likely more along the lines of half a generation behind.

RPG Tsukuru 4 looks like an extremely high-end SNES game when it's actually in motion. it's very, very pretty.

We still dont know what console the next RPG Maker will be on. Enterbrain typically goes for the console with the highest market saturation. so really, it could be on the PS3 or Revolution. 360's a bomb in japan, so it's pretty much ruled out.

But its surprising how much Japanese support the 360 is getting. So I wouldn't completely rule it out, then again this may just be wishful thinking to keep my wallet full by being PS3 free.

But then again, I may just stick with RPGM2, because its easier to stick with your own style of game with the simple sprite like graphics of RPGM1 and 2. 3 pretty much had only realistic looking characters.

But I guess I shouldn't be saying anything until I actually see the next RPG Maker/Tsukuru.

Go, PS3. If you can't do it nobody can.

Ok, anyway I always thought that RPG Maker 3 had better graphics than playstation games. But I don't have very many games that have great graphics anyway.

So what happens if it is on the Revolution/x-box 360? Does that mean that it will have the graphics of the Gamecube or the x-box, or would it go down to the next lowest graphics of a console made by any company.

Nothing to worry about though. If the only thing people cared about was graphics then no one would use RPG Maker anymore.

Wouldn't PS3 be the most expensive console to make an RPGM on? Unless you're only barely tapping its potential. Though I think an RPGM on Revolution would have more potential with gameplay. You know, what with being able to take advantage of that controller. Personally I'm hoping it's not PS3, as I don't want one, and putting an RPGM on PS3 would mean that I'd have to get one.

I'm guessing that whichever console the next RPGM is on, it'd possibly be an RPGM with graphics on par with 3's, and power on par with 2's.

The Revolution might be good. I am going to save up my money and wait tell it comes out just so I can buy whichever console it is on though. If it is on that they need to make a keyboard for it though. I don't know to much about the controller except it is different from any regular controller. Maybe with that you won't need a keyboard. I guess I can see when it comes out though. I say keep it on playstation 2 but that is because I don't want to get a new console. I guess I will have to get one sooner or later.

Well, I personally hope the next maker(if it goes to the next gen systems) goes to the PS3/Rev, moreso PS3 because I won't have to pay for one if I decide to get one.

I hope it has little to do with 3 too.

I'm hoping it will be on PS2. Why you ask? Because I don't have the kind of income to buy A PS3, revolution, or 360. Knowing my luck it will not be on the PS2 so I will have no choice, but to curse at the next gen consoles that I can't buy.

Yeah, if it comes out for a next-gen system, I'm getting it two years after it comes out.

The interface and creation process could be pretty nifty with the Revolution. They should take a hint from MegaMan: Powered Up's level creation system in that regard.

It could get different merits depending on which console it ends up on. On PS3, it's got loads of power for detailed scenarios. On 360, it's got XBox Live. On Revolution, it's got the UI. I'm fine with any of them.

if its going to be on PS3 or 360, the expectations for it's graphical abilities are going to be rather high. Higher than enterbrain is capable of, I fear. with the RPGM series, they focus on the engine. the graphical presentation is an afterthought.

Hell, SCEA would not hesitate to reject it if it's graphics werent up to their retarded standards.

That's good, I'm glad the graphics take a back seat to what really matters, the engine.

Although the graphical expectations for the next RPG Maker will be high regardless of which system it's on. Maybe we should stick with RPG Maker 2.5 for now?

Indeed, the engine is what makes or breaks the game, for me. RPGM3 is a pretty face, but very shallow. While RPGM2 isn't exactly a run way model, she has alot of personality. I would take personality any day. I'm just hoping next time around they use the graphics of RPGM3 and the engine of RPGM2. That would make for one sweet babe... I mean game.
