    Gameshark'd Mario Kart DS

If you ever encounter a player named Juga Juga (he has Mario in front of an American Flag), both watch out and take interest in him. Not only is he seemingly able to get infinite boost without snaking, but he was able to choose courses not normally available for online mode. Most notably, he chose Bowser's Castle (which made me first think that the other courses were open, and I was sorely disappointed when I went through the list), as well as Block Fort, a battle course area. Too bad the computer decided not to choose those courses over the non-shark'd players. I would've been very interested in playing those places (Bowser's Castle being my particular favorite race course, and the other simply not being a race course).

Anybody could tell how crappy their service is just by trying out one online game. And if it means that there really is a chance of playing those places online, I won't complain. Just as long as the person only cheats to get those places and not to win.

Yeah, but the service just started in November. It'll get better.

I'm assuming they'll drastically overhaul WFC for Revolution. Cause the whole friend code thing is already frustrating and there's only a handful of wifi games. If they simply saved the wifi settings on the DS rather than on the cartridges they could have an XBL type system but that'd involve putting at least a little persistent memory in the unit and that's apparently too much to ask.

I just want them to get away from that search system they seem intent on using, and give us an actual server full of players and games to pick and choose from.

Unfortunately, even if they do upgrade WFC, games like Mario Kart will probably still have a lack-luster (even if fun) online mode.

Wow, this lack of security is almost on every online system. Including PC. You'll always find hackers. No point in complaining about it.

I have doubts that they have an online security in the first place, aside from one that prevents hacking of their servers.

A trip to Wiki shows what the deal is with "unlocking" these places.
                  *click*
Normally, there are only twenty tracks available for online play. Recently, however, a user with the alias "Parasyte" [1] discovered how to unlock single player tracks for use over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, using a PassMe and a Game Boy Advance Flash Cartridge. Tracks such as Airship Fortress, Tick-Tock Clock, Waluigi Pinball, and others have been played online. Apart from a few minor glitches, these tracks can be played just like the others. A hack has been released online by another user, with the alias "Natrium42." [2]

Anyone with the proper equipment can load it onto their game and race these single player tracks against other players using the Wi-Fi Connection. These people are in great demand, seeing as many of the most popular tracks are disabled for online play, but users still want to race in them.
One could only hope that, if this becomes popular enough, Nintendo will wind up releasing an official patch.

In the meantime, I'm gonna go see if I can do this myself.
