Anime you'd recommend to everyone else?

Well, of all the anime you have seen, which one(s) would be so cool/funny/stylish/fan-catering/gory, that you'd recommend everyone else see it?

    -Kyo Kara Maoh!
I like it. It's different from other anime, and it has a lot of cutural references, which were probably intentional to cause rioting. Seriously though, I think it's more for those who're looking for just adventure with a little comedy. And the contrasts between various things in both earth and the other world are pretty interesting.

    -Girls Bravo
    Very funny and contains fan service. Yes, that means 7 3 h |3 3 vv |3 5.

    -Marmalade Boy
I didn't think I'd like this drama, but it starts off easy and gets kind of interesting; definition of EMO. It's like All My Children, only not.

    -Tenjho Tenge
Just for the intro alone, damn catchy IMO. Emo action = GUUUUD.

    Anyone have any other recommendations?

    Kyo Kara Maoh: gay.

    Girls Bravo: vapid.

    Marmalade Boy: FOR WOMEN

Tenjo Tenge: Emo action = bad?

In all seriousness, Eureka Seven will premiere on Adult Swim Saturday night at midnight. Everyone needs to at least check it out.

I've never heard of your first suggestion, and I despise the other series you mentioned.

I wouldnt reccomend much, since I have odd, random tastes. But I will say that everyone needs to see the original Gundam (in movie trilogy form) and Zeta Gundam, followed by the movie Char's Counterattack. they're the best the franchise has to offer.

And of course, GaoGaiGar is worth seeing just for Mic Sounders, the greatest singing robot ever created. He's my hero.

Here's a great write-up on GaoGaiGar, for anyone wondering about the show that the annoying sound clips I play here come from.

Not into much anime at the moment, but I will say that Death Note is an excellent read as far as manga goes. On the opposite end of that is Dr. Slump, which is incredibly awesome. There are 4 volumes of Death Note and 6 volumes of Dr. Slump available right now, with more on the way. I believe Dr. Slump has 16-18 books total.

I'll look at that Valk. Your random tastes may prove interesting. And while I don't read very much manga Nixon(I don't like to read anime), I'll be sure to at least look at Dr. Slump, I heard it was interesting to read. If I ever start buying mangas, they'll probably be more graphics than words.

If Lifetime ever had an anime block, I'm sure this would be one of the first to be shown.

Any anime on AS = LAME

I will check it out, just to see how badly it's butchered. Maybe I'll like it.

Care to tell me how you formed that opinion?

The same way you come up with yours Mora, THROUGH CAREFUL ANALYSIS OF THE STORY AND CHARACTERS.

Wouldn't the original version trump anything shown on adult swim, just by default?

My avatar and sig have been recommending Stand Alone Complex for months.

edit: Aw, dude. A kick in the teeth is better than Yu Yu Hakusho.

                      1. That’s not Adult Swim.

                      2. Yuu Yuu Hakusho can never be good.

Oh. I thought you were just trying to imitate the laughing man, and I thought Mora was doing the advertising(that's how I got interested in SAC 2nd gig)?

*has been kicked in the balls*
Yeah, I kinda know that. At least it's better than DBZ, which is in fact WORSE than getting kicked in the balls.

Seriously, though, most of the time the only reason edits wind up on Adult Swim are because the studios themselves edit them for airing. I mean, FLCL was fully uncut. Eva I think has only had “goddamn” bleeped out and Asuka’s little nude episode in a bathtub was darkened out (which is odd because you see her top half nude in a Shinji dream sequence, no problem). So I don’t know where this “butchering” you’re talking about gets any credibility.

Yu Yu Hakusho has a fantastic premise and threw it a way in favor of becoming ANOTHER fighting anime.

Well, I just finished Escaflowne, and I liked it a lot.

There has never been an anime series I could get into. I like some of the feature-length films, though.
