    Revolution to gain Genesis?

I believe I just creamed my jeans.

And I'm a pretty faithful person.

I don't know if this has been a topic of discussion, but now I'm sold. Some of my fondest memories were on the Sega Genesis, since I never owned a Super Nintendo or N64. Plus, my favorite RPG is Phantasy Star IV, so this really wets my whistle. Anyone else excited to hear that Sega will be allowing titles for the Genesis to be downloadable on the Revolution?

Even though I do still have three Genesii, Sega CD and the 32X (Which was the lamest thing ever.), I'm pretty pumped because I can easily find those old classics without paying in blood on eBay.

It would be awesome if they would release Shadowrun on that thing...

There is now NO REASON to buy ANY OTHER console. PERIOD.

You know, I bet after this announcement, Microsoft will come with a slew of arcade games from Capcom or something. Ah, gotta love competition.

If only for the old school, this thing is going to do well. I've also heard of scans of the first Revo game in GI, but it's April- so I'm reluctant.

Yep, it was announced at the GDC last month, along with the announcement of new, original games and content from small devs and Nintendo available for download on the Virtual Console.

Furthermore, Hudson announced shortly afterwards that it would support their CD-ROM2 PC Engine games, so I've no doubt in my mind that the Virtual Console will have Sega CD games, too. Heck, maybe even Master System games.

if they have Genesis, maybe they'll have Saturn! and if they have Saturn...

in any case, this is really great news, and I'm more excited than ever for the Revolution.

I almost went to GDC, but I figured I just didn't know enough about programming yet to make it worth my while.

I really don't like the "best of" idea, though. There are plenty of games on these old systems that I really enjoyed that are widely considered crap. What are the odds of Krusty's Super Fun House appearing on the Virtual Console, for example?

But, they probably won't have Moonwalker...

                        Re: Revolution to gain Genesis?

While I have my doubts that the Revolution will have old games for download in the US, if they do I seriously doubt PC Engine to be amongst them, Nintendo probably won't waste their time or money installing a hardware emulator on the US release of the console, of a system that sold barely any units in the US.

As for Genesis, I can see it happening, but then again, does anyone find it odd that Nintendo is so willing to participate with those that were once its biggest rivals? If you think about it, Nintendo wanted nothing to do with Genesis and spanked it in the market in the 90's, so why now? Wouldn't it be just as easy for Nintendo to have Sega release a compilation DVD like they did with Sonic Mega Collection, and save hardware costs and costs for even more testplaying?

Don't get me wrong, I am excited about all of this IF it makes it to the US (remember the DD drive that they promised us years ago?) however it doesn't add up.

With all these games that they are promising, it wouldn't leave any room on the 512MB flash disk for anything else. I hope that Nintendo will sell upgrades of some sort.

That's pretty awesome. It is going to put Game Trader out of business.

It'd also be cool if the revolution supported HDTV but noooooooooooo

Some of us, or should I say, most of us don't even have a HDTV....

I wonder if they are going to put Sega CD and 320x games on there? That would be so great! I can store my sega cd games in storage then.
