I loved the astetic of the game. The characters were really unique but I loved the design of the... how to say it... the borders of the game. Like the crazy heads that would show up when you saved or the strange picasso like cubic buildings that made up the city beyond the streat you were actualy on. Or how the textures looked like color pencil shading. That stuff endeared the game to me more than the story or the gameplay.
Luckily I have a friend who generally gets all the new RPG games that are out, and she picked up this one. I really did like the look of it, and the fact that you could kick people amused me, but the soul just wasn't there for me. Sure it was pretty, the voices weren't TOO bad, and the controls were okay, but the battles were lacking, and the story just seemed to be haphazardly thrown together. Then again, I never played it, only had a brief preview of it while she played. I think this one could qualify as a rental, I'm just not sure if I personally would buy it.
