    We've got it back.

Thanks to kire, we FINALLY have our proper domain name back.

    http://www.rpgmpavilion.com/ points to here now.

in the next few days, I'll be changing the way the address stuff here works. pavilionboards.com will point directly to the forums, and rpgmpavilion.com will point to the site itself.

I'll also have to straighten out the way cookies work, to allow login from the proper domain name, and for them to share cookies.

It's gonna be quite a bit of work, but the hardest and most frustrating part of it is over with.

The front page is broken, the Community Links are where that little User CP thing was.

          Re: We've got it back.

          not broken. took it off.

the cpanel block is not used for anything on the site. It doesnt have to be there.

everything that was there is on the forum index. the new post link is at the top of the forums, new PMs are listed in the cpanel block at the top of both style sets.

So it really didnt need to be on the site itself. Besides, if I kept it there it wouldnt even work, since rpgmpavilion.com is now the actual address of the site, it cant share the same cookie as the forum, and it you cant login to one domain name via another.

well, I'm sure you can, but I have no idea how to make it work. regardless, the site layout is not finalized, there will be more changes coming soon.

I always used the Cpanel to go to the new posts.

I'll try and get it working eventually, but its not a priority.

I know they're there, too, but it's not as convenient.

Because I'm curious, and tell me to start a new thread if this isn't the place to ask...but since I am fairly new to this forum, how did we loose the last domain name and maintance?

                    Re: We've got it back.

When I setup the new forums in january of last year, I put them on my server, since the account kire had at be-hosted.com couldnt handle them. a month later (last march, actually) I moved the site here, and integrated it with the forum software. a few weeks later when we went to transfer the domain name to the new location, be-hosted.com had locked kire out of his account, nothing could be touched or edited. they told him his account was deleted because of inactivity, and there was nothing that could be done. So we decided to just keep using the domain name I registered for the forum until rpgmpavilion.com expired, and we could grab it again. then suddenly kire was able to login to the domain registrar again, without explanation. and now we have the domain name pointing here, and I'm renewing it in a few days.

Darn it. Now I'm gonna have to get used to typing a different domain name again. (I don't go here through favorites.)
