    Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams

Okay, this game's been out for a few weeks. Using the money from my last paycheck, I went out and bought it. My impressions of it so far:

I like the infusion of RPG elements into the series(even more so than the second game). You actually have equipment and accessories to worry about other than your elemental swords. Also levelling up and putting points into your skills and attacks.

I like that you actually end up having a party, even if you can only take two at a time. On the flipside of that, you do also have to watch out for your partner as well, because they do get themselves hurt quite a bit.

Capcom made yet another awesome opening movie for this one.

I noticed this game is a lot more difficult than the previous games, but maybe that's attributed to the fact that my skills(like Deflect Critical and Evade) have to be levelled up more in order to be really effective. The common genma(the ones with the hats like Raiden of Mortal Kombat wears) even got quite a few hits on me, and that was a rarity in the previous three.

I like the t-shirt that came with it... even if it was vacuum-sealed into a hockey puck shape.

I'm only a couple hours in, but I'm looking forward to how this ends up playing.

I played the demo and it was so easy and repetitive.

      It came with a T-Shirt?

I enjoy the Onimusha series (despite 3's vast shortcomings ) so I'll be getting this eventuuuuaaally, I'm sure.

Keep us (I'm sure DK and Kef care to hear too) updated.

Okay, so far I have 4 of the 5 party members. I like Jubei and Ohatsu the best.

I really like placing my partner in guard/heal stance while the one I control whales on a large genma/boss, and then switch up when they're focused on me, and bust out some huge multi-hit attack when they're not looking.

Also, my favorite thing, Japanese language is back, so I don't have to listen to Japanese characters speaking in English. It's kinda stupid that I have to go into options in the title screen to change it back every time I start playing again after I stop, though.

There are WHALES in the game?!?

I've got to get this. It's Inafune's other baby, and I've never experienced it.

I'm not sure if you're making fun of me or not...

Plus, I'm not too sure, is it "whales", "wails", or "Wales"?

Oh, crap. I thought you were serious about there being whales in the game. After re-reading it, I am now disappointed .

                Damn you, context.

                Damn you to Ohio.

Oh, the right spelling it's wails.

Have you tried playing it with someone else yet?

Co-op mode's unlockable, I assume by beating the game. Since I'm not even on Disc 2, I don't think I'm even close. I got Onimusha powers though, finally.

I think the difficulty has been ramped up quite a bit compared to 1 and 3. I think I've died about 10 times so far, and in the first one, I never died.

Bummer! I was planning on renting this and taking it down with my room mate.

I'm glad to hear that this one has been getting good reviews and for the most part sound like a goodun. Onimusha has been one of the fonder memories I have on the PS2 as far as any established series goes, from laughing as Samonaske was crushed under some stupid trap after exclaiming to Ayane "I appear to be trapped!" to cursing myself for letting the game's events lead me to killing Eiki in O2 to being dissapointed and crushed by HENRI in O3 (which I never finished, either ).

Onimusha 3 is not worth finishing. It was an awesome opening movie with a bonus game that happened to come along with it.
