Want to get my PS2 online

    Mostly for MGS3.

    Hell, ONLY for MGS3.

I know I'll need a network adapter, which is 30 dollars. okay, thats do-able.
But my internet access is a problem. the router (2wire brand) is downstairs, and a wireless reciever is in my room. Do I need to get another router? is there anything that can let my PS2 use the wireless signal?

            its over 80 dollars.

guess I'm screwed, since there's no way I'm stringing 20 feet of cords through the house.

Wireless gaming ain't cheap. But if you get a lot of enjoyment from online play it more than pays for itself.

I got my wireless router for something like $40.

Unfortunately, I don't know how well it works, other than me saying that it's not one of the routers compatible with the DS. Unfortunately, that's why I got it.

I bought a used Xbox wireless adapter for $70.

Works for my Xbox, PS2, and my laptop.

You could always get a long CAT-5 cable. That's what I had to do to link my router to my PC from upstairs.

You can get long amounts of ethernet cable online for next to nothing. But yea, weeding it through the house is a pain and tacky, unless ofcourse you do what my father does and that is to weasel them through the walls.

Or you could have a pro do it for you if the overall price is cheaper than that of the wireless games reciever.

You can also use them to hang monitors.

Yeah I just bought this awesomely long Ethernet cable and had it run from my PS2 in my bedroom to the basement up the stairs, through the kitchen into the living room, into the dining room and to my router. My parents found it annoying (imagine that?!) so I had to unplug it when not in use, but now I have just drilled a hole through the floor by my comp that actually is almost right above my bedroom, except now I have all this feet of wasted ethernet cable wrapped around my bed room... oh well
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

                            Connecting to a wireless router

                            1. Install the network adaptor in the PlayStation®2 console.

                            2. Connect an Ethernet network cable (not included) from the NETWORK connector of the network adaptor to a wireless Ethernet bridge.

                            3. Connect the WAN port of the wireless router to the DSL or cable modem.

                            4. Connect a personal computer (not pictured) to the router. Use a web browser on the PC to setup the router to reach the Internet. Follow the specific instructions that come with the router.

Valk, $80 is a small price to pay for the magic of Metal Gear Online. Trust me.
