    Hey SERGE!

Do you still draw? I went to the site in your bio and instead of all that awesome art you used to draw, saw a metal gear solid movie, hehe.

Anyhow, the reason I am asking is that I finished The Tale of Cloran Hastings the novel and am submitting it to dozens of publishers around the nation. One of them is Cellar Door Publishing (http://www.cellardoorpublishing.com/index.htm) and if they accept it, I may need an artist. And so I, of course, thought of you

I am not sure which one of the publishers I submitted to--if any--will accept the book though. Ah well.

To avoid this topic being doomed to die at the hands of Pavilion Regulation Not-Really-Numbered #5...

That's pretty neat that you're trying to turn your game into an actual published book. I want to do the same thing with one of my ideas. If only I wasn't such a big procrastinator.

It is well worth trying. Even if you never get published the act of getting your idea down in book form is very rewarding. If no agent or publisher ever picks you up you can still publish your book with cafepress.com or lulu.com.

Sit down and write for one hour a day. Tha hard part is sitting down; the easy part is the writing, hehe.

The problem is the story is over 4 years old, and was thought up when I had little experience with storytelling. I've done so much updating to it over the years, it's become a big mess, and I have to restart the thing from scratch. Eventually I'll come around to it, though. Only a matter of time. (Speaking of which, I seem to be running out...)

              in related news:
I have a meeting with the head of Top Shelf Comix this Thursday.
if you're not familiar with them, they publish authors such as JAMES KOCHALKA and JEFFREY BROWN and CRAIG THOMPSON.

Rone, is this the one you released for RPGM, or am I thinking of (sp?) Tsaeboth?

The Tale of Cloran Hastings: The Video Game

With no info available. ...Yeah, that would be my fault.

So, is the story going to have any upgrades over the RPGM game?

                  Re: Hey SERGE!

The book is based on my game The Tale of Cloran Hastings. Tsebaoth is part of my Nurith War trilogy which I have not yet written. I do allude to it in Hastings, however.

The book has drifted from the game very significantly. As you recall, the game is really very short, with only three major scenes and three dungeons. The novel is 80,000 words long, standard fantasy size, and I came up with a ton of new material.

In the book, all the sailors have names and distinct personalities, and are much more involved with the actual plot. I also spend a significant amount of time explaining Cloran's relationship with the sea. In the book, the sea is like a character, who has malice and a will of her own--in this case, a will to destroy Cloran. I renamed Brandy in the book to Adaire. Ale Trodder makes an appearance but in a significantly different way, as does Dwarf Bane (renamed Blue Bane). The Mandrake castle scene is still in the book and follows the plot of the game fairly closely. The vast majority of the book, however, is completely new.

Really, the closest thing the book has in common with the game is the very end. I don't mean the Leviathan fight; I mean after the fight, while Lenny and Cloran are talking on deck. That scene is almost word for word the same as in the book. I tweaked it only slightly.

Well when it comes out, be sure to tell us so we can all buy it.

Oh, and let me know how much money you make off of it.
