This is a sad little news article about some school children in the Phillipines. (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/asiapcf/03/09/mass.poisoning/index.html)
I post it not to depress anyone, but to point out the absolute irony of the situation:
The vendor who sold the cassava balls insisted nothing was wrong with them and ate a few to prove the point. Now she, too, is in critical condition.
That's too bad. I feel sorry for the families. :(

Yeah, I was reading that earlier. The woman obviously didn't grasp how serious the situation was.
Nasty stuff. It's such a shame that so many people were affected. Hopefully the survivors will be able to recover soon.
you gotta respect someone who's willing to back up their product with actions and not just words though. refreshing change from most of the rest of the world.
Bah, I hate food poisoning. I got it once from McDonalds here during the 5th grade and was dead sick for months on end.
Those poor people sure have it worse then I did, unfortunately.

Im suprised that the restaraunt I work at hast gotten any complaints yet about food poisoning.
They leave raw meat out for like 3-4 hours sometimes, and wash there hands overtop of a strainer filled with chopped lettuce. Just stuff like that they do all the time.
I could probably have them shutdown if I didnt need my job. :lol

Ah man, are you serious Crunk? Ya see, now I can't ever go to a restruant agian because of hearing that... guess I'll just stay home and eat ulternative sources of protien. :spam
As for the cassava balls, well, that sucks. The poor kids totally got screwed. I agree with what gray said to, eating her product like that took guts. It was foolish, but she had guts. I have to say, I don't care how ya cook it, if it's poison I ain't touchin' it. Don't see me harfin' down Blow fish.

Its a restaraunt called "Silvanos". Fancy-ish greek restaraunt. Very popular place, and lots of people who dont live near it know about it.
Since we're so close to the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel, we get alot of tourists in there too. :lol
