    I hate being a N00B

No matter what multiplayer game I play it seems that everyone always has the 1up on me (usage of the 1up intended). I play some online games such as Warcraft III or Mario Kart and get pwned up the rectum. I play other games such as Super Smash Brothers or even Godzilla and still get pwned.

All I seem to do with my life is play video games, yet everyone around me has the upper hand.

I have 2 theroies as to why that is:

1:I think with the offline games that I never get enough practice with friends (I.E. I never can get any friends that like video games... or any in general)

2: I never can play one or 2 types of games for very long, thus my skills never develop. It's either play WCIII for a day then play Zoids then SSB and so on. Thus the "Ants-In-My-Pants" syndrome.

Anyone else want to admit and discuss that they have a similar problem? Or are you all just gaming gods?

    Yep, I sure am.

Seriously, though, I don't really play online games. The reason: I don't like the thought of still paying for a game after I bought it. Now if I could find a good and free online game then I would give it a shot. I'm kind of tired of always beating my friends. There is no challenge anymore for me. So what I look for is a game that someone can totally kick my ass. That sounds a bit strange, but I enjoy challenges.

I've felt your pain, honestly. The thing is that a lot of those people play those games endlessly. The same game.

Frankly, I'm hesitant to go online unless I'm one of the first people, because otherwise you'll be up against people who are sinking a ridiculous amount of hours into the game.

The only game I did extensive online time with was Starcraft, and that's only because I had a lot of practice, and I didn't really mind getting pwned half the time.

Everyone will start off a n00b, even I did. There's no escaping that fact.

Just play just to play, not nessesarly(sp?) to win.

Except DOA2. That game makes fun of you if you lose.

Meh. Although there are a lot of games I'm bad out, I do hate it when I get owned at one I'm really good at. Aw well.

The fact that I'm not starting out is the thing. I've been gamin for a long time now, yet I still cannot win against anyone (with the exception of computers).

Halo. I swear, I can never get better at that game. It's probably just me.

I don't own an X-Box, maybe people outpracticed me.

I used to think I was good. Until I got online. I'm a "Jack of all trades" type of player, so I have experience with at least most types of games. But because of that, even though I've been playing games most of my life (often in place of doing my homework), I haven't been able to "master" any type of game.

In your defense, though, a lot of Mario Kart players are snake-cheaters. They're almost impossible to beat.

Of course you are. Well, look at your rep. It is probably built off of sexiness.

I never get really good at any games IMO. Maybe I'm just hard on myself but it's true. Mostly it's due to not putting a lot of time into any particular game. Also never having a real person to play against. And I'm just plain bad at high reflex games like FPSs and most action/fighting games.

I suck at Halo and other FPS games. Occasionally I'll go through really good streaks where I'll pwn my friends(who are much better at them than me), but such streaks are short-lived.

i think that's what happens to me. i'll have a good streak every now and then, but eventually i'll be crushed in some sort of humiliating fashion, making me question if my wins were even real.

i've been playing games for a long time too, and while i won't claim dominance on any one game(except for maybe Goldeneye in its day), rest assured i'll be able to beat you at almost any game at least once or twice. that alone makes me feel okay about being a life-long intermediate game player.
