    calling all rpgm2 experts

Alright, I've decided to delay my dream project(a game I've been dreaming of making for fifteen Years!)
I'm taking Rodak's advice and am working on another idea to hone my Rpgm2 skills.
Ok, I've had RM2 for a little over a week and I am finally making good progress( The Prima guide really helped). Now, even though I know I should, I can't bring myself to make anything with the dbs. I want to do a side view battle system a la 16-bit final fantasy's. There was a guide that seemed to start explaining this process but it is incomplete. Any help will be greatly appreciated, even if it's just to give me a link to a faq or something.
If i use this type of battle system, will I still be able to use the enemy models? if not, I would settle just for the ability to see my party in the dbs, as I want to use the enemy models for my current project.
Also, I want to scrap the whole look talk menu, in favor of a more traditional one button operation, like hit x to talk to a npc or hit x to search a barrel also. This is important. I want the status screen to still be accesible though.

That's the continuation of the CBS FAQ I made in the scripting FAQ. The reason it was "imcomplete" was because I planned to change it, I felt it was too difficult for total newbies. So, every week or so, I'll post a new step on how to set one up until I think I'm finished with it.

You can't use enemy models outside of battle. They'd be incredibly stiff to use anyway. You cannot have the status screen accessable by itself. You can change some of the options in the DMS though using the game system script.

At first, I couldn't stand playing with the DBS either, until I saw OgreNix's video, he made it look more fun. So now, I'm gonna make a game with a faster and more customizable DBS too.

so using a sustem similar to that, I would have to use character, objects, and vfx models as my enemies?
So there is no way to make character models visible
      in the DBS?

I understand most of what you wrote in that guide, thank you for the help.

You can only use field stuff in the field, and battle stuff in battle.

Look there if you wish to have a CBS using the DBS.

You can't technically use enemy models outside the DBS, so you'd have to resort to using character models as enemies (try recoloring a few for interesting effects) or VFX enemies. Likewise, character models can't really be used in the DBS.

And there is a one-button command for Talk/Look/etc. It's the /\ button. One would still have to use the default menu for looking at status, items, etc. (outside of creating a custom menu), but that isn't a big problem so long as you don't think it's ugly-looking.
