God of War II: Divine Retribution

Me wantee! I hope the new director doesn't end up being a problem. 10-page article in this month's Game Informer. Here's some pics some guy took of the mag.

The sheer brutality of Kratos' arsenal of attack swas a trademark of the first game, and you can expect to see a brand new array of sickening kill moves punctuating GoW II's flowing combat. In our hands-on time with the game, we picked up a boar by the hind legs and eviscerated it, kicked a wild dog in the ribs, and clenched a soldier by the neck as we amputated his limbs with his own sword. "There is a much bigger focus on using the enemies' weapons and body parts against them," Barlog reveals. "This broadens the visceral nature of the combat to bascially every enemy you encounter." In these images, Kratos rips out the eye of a rampaging cyclops. What these screens don't reveal, however, is the aftermath: With the cyclops writhing in pain on the ground, Kratos jams the eyeball into the open mouth of the blinded monster before stomping on its jaw to force it shut. Thankfully, a new position on Olympus has done nothing to quench the legendary bloodlust of Kratos.

New director? Okay. Hopefully it won't be a broken game this time!

Since Jaffe got all promoted and whatnot the lead animator from the first game was bumped up to direct this one. 90% of the same team though so it might not make much difference. Although the article does say they read player feedback on what needed to be changed. Barlog even made a joke about the spinning blades in Hades. Apparently, a lot of the platforming this time will be centered around grappling and swining with the blades and also brief flight with the Wings of Icarus. Which you'll actually have to beat Icarus in a boss battle to get. Oh, and there will be more boss battles than in the last game and they'll still be enivronment based like before.

Well, Jaffe said himself that the last part of the first game was "****" so there better be improvements.

Yeah, the last part of God of War seemed barely tested.

But I can't wait to play this game. The best part of God of War was the boss fights.... But there were only 3. And the last was definitly disapointing.

Everything seems to spell better game, so I can't wait to play it.

He does! He doesn't shut up. He's like the new John Romero or something. I think he's got a BLOG too.

He insists his upcoming PSP game "will make you cry."

Not another one! When do I wake up from this horrible nightmare? Expecially when God of War... can't find its way into my hands. If only the game sucked then I wouldn't feel as bad. Damn, I must get money.

Woohoo, another GoW game. I hope it's not another rental.

True, I only rented the first one. Enjoyed it emmensely but there really wasn't much drive to play through it again. But I still look forward to experiencing the next one, even if I only want to experience it once.
