Silent Hill 1 Redux

For those of you who (rightfully) avoid the eyesore that is 1up, it reported and interesting rumor. Apparently, there may be a plan in place to take advantage of any success of Silent Hill the movie by releasing a new version of Silent Hill 1, but with Rose, the protagonist of the movie, in place of Harry. Keep in mind this is just a rumor.

Still, I hate the idea. The movie may be good, I hope to god it's good, but why **** all over the original game and take out Harry? Especially seeing as the series does have a measure of continuity, it could create issues. Then again, I would be curious to see a SH1 with updated graphics.

The story in question. It's 1up, so be prepared for Flash explosion.

I don't really care either way. It'd essentially be Silent Hill: The Movie: The Game.

I wouldn't mind if it was a Silent Hill 1.5 kinda thing. Considering some of the elements from both 1 and 2 are in the movie it might actually add to the continuity. If they could come up with an interesting reason why basically the same thing is happening to Rose that happened to Harry I could go with it. If they just retcon the series to replace Harry with Rose then a pox on all their houses. A pox, I say!

I wouldn't mind a DS version of SH1. I've been meaning to replay SH1 since I just bought SH3.

I'd play a remake of any kind, but I'd really like to see them stick with the original characters.

Silent Hill with improved graphics would be kick ass. If they were to make it I just hope it wouldn't be easier (like the MGS remake.)

Konami is putting out a UMD called The Silent Hill Experience around the time of the movie. It has two animated comics the five-issue Silent Hill: Dying Inside and a new one by the same writer Scott Ciencin. There'll also be 20 musical selections from the games, interviews with Akira Yamaoka and Christophe Gans, and other extras.

And there will be a Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel also. It's based on a treatment of MGS1 by Ashley Wood.
