    Dark Cloud 2

In my opinion this is one of the best games ever made.
Are there any other games like this?
Was Dark Cloud 1 like this?

I'd like to see a Dark Cloud for the DS.

I don't know what the difference between the two are, but I believe they're pretty big, and DC2 is supposed to be substantially better than the first one.

The first Dark Cloud kinda sucked, IMO. The second was a drastic improvement. It was a very fun game, I just love the hacking and slashing. The only problem I had with Dark Cloud 2 was the building aspect. Unlike in Dark Cloud, you have to search for the materials to build the places. That could be a bit of a pain if you only need one more of one material to, for example, build a house. And you can't find it anywhere.

I like Dark Cloud. It's a fun game. It was one of my first PS2 RPGs. I have DC1 and DC2.

Dark Cloud 2 is a huge improvement in many ways on the original. So to go back and play the first, you might feel a little underwhelmed. Still, the first game is immensely enjoyable, and it would allow you to see the basic system that the series was founded on (I say series, because I'm pretty sure a Dark Cloud 3 is in the works.)

Dark Cloud is much simpler than its sequel, but you might consider is a breath of fresh air from the intricacy of DC2.. depending on how involved you were with it. The first one is very much a basic formula of dungeon-build-dungeon-build with some plot interspersed here and there, but this time you get a hero, a cat girl, a fat guy, a genie, and a moon rabit to explore with.

I thought the first one was pretty good, but man it got really repetitive pretty quick (unless your really into dungeon action-RPGs). Of course I'm not that big into hack and slashers, I prefer turn based or strategy, but the building aspect was interesting. The only annoying thing was the weapon HP combined with the fact all your power originated from your weapon. I just am not fond of any game that allows you to basically lose all your work on your character in one bad desicion, since if your weapon lost it's HP it broke and was unfixable, so you could work the whole game building up a weapon then forget to repair it once and lose all that progress instantly. So basically you would just end up restarting from your last save, kind of defeating the purpose of the weapon HP. I heard that in the 2nd it only makes you weapon do 1HP damage when it runs out, which would be much better, though I haven't played the second. As for the story it was pretty forgetable to me, as most of the focus was on rebuilding the towns and leveling up your weapon, while making sure not to break it at all costs, and collecting little treasure chests sprinkled throughout the towns. Then there's the thing with the dark genie wreaking havoc, but that's not as important.

                  Re: Dark Cloud 2

DC1 was pretty meh, since the only reason you'd have to change from Toan is to get rid of obstacles, jump over canyons, or hit switches. In fact, you can play (almost) the entire game as just Toan, as long as you level up Ruby's weapon for the final boss.

DC2 is better because you only have to track and level 2 characters instead of 5 (Which was just insanely long to do in DC1), as well as if your weapon broke you could repair it in DC2 and your progress wasn't lost.

In fact, because you can use items to get around the dungeon "Have to use Monica" or "Have to use Max" by buying a 500G (Or was it 1000G?) item was nice--I beat the game only using Monica, in full Tiger Bikini gear.

Of course, you'd want to use Max all the time if you want to do the secret dungeon, since you can't use Monica for awhile in there no matter what.

Also, DC1's "Thirst" guage was BS. I'm glad they removed that in DC2.
