Bah, I decided to stop production on my game because it's just to huge (RPGM3) I still haven't gotten past the first dungeon and I need a break. Now a gazillion ideas are popping into my head on how to make different games. Does this happen to anyone else or just me?

Re: TOO MANY IDEAS!!!
One of the things I did to limit that from happening when I was still designing, was I'd go back and write out the dialogue for a scene on my computer, write down exactly what's in the dungeons, and then transfer the script into the game after it's edited.
That way you can be consistant, you don't rush dialogue, and your game style stays consistant from the start to the end of your story."I can dodge nuclear missles, baby!"

Re: TOO MANY IDEAS!!!
I enjoy juggling multiple projects.
None of them are finished, but I have only had RPGMakers for a little over a year.
As long as I am having fun it does not bother me.
For the record, I am working on:
The Clean Underwear Quest (slowly emerging from it's break)
Videogamedrome (Final Demo Nearly Ready, Full Game after that)
Something for that Cow I made with Bigfoot which you have all seen (he's pictured in my Signature if not)
The VFX Editor Guide (click link in my signature)
And I still need time to do art!
Don't worry about it.
If your ideas keep you amused, go with them.
There are no timetables or deadlines here!
For me the process is more important than the finished product.
Peace.Last edited by Rodak; 03-17-2006, 05:35 PM.

Re: TOO MANY IDEAS!!!
I always get to many ideas, really good ones too, for one game all through out the day. I get around this by writing them all down, and sketching maps and char designs in a notebook. So I can forget them, and come back to the page when I'm working on that part.
I've got notes from all my old games that I keep, for future referance, and a huge sheet for all games in general covered in possible item, character, and town names, so I don't have to come up with them on the spot. I also keep an english to japanese dictionary so I have even more name ideas at my finger tips.
And the most helpful note sheet I have is all the music descriptions that I wrote down for picking a soundtrack to match a certain feeling. I posted them under "Ultimate music guide (And how to use them)"
I also juggle more than one game at a time, so notes help even more.

Re: TOO MANY IDEAS!!!
My "Games to Create" list currently is at nine titles. Seven of them are RPGs, with one being a strategy/tactical RPG. This of course does not include the 10 or so game concept ideas that I wound up scrapping.
Is it any wonder that I've only completed one game in my 4 1/2 years of game creation."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: TOO MANY IDEAS!!!
New ideas for games seem to pop in my head every second. Luckily, I'm still able to focus on my project at hand. What I hate is when I come up with a really good idea, but it can't be done even by RPGM2. Oh well, as long as I can focus on my project I should be fine.I had to change accounts.
