Is there a way to use evens as more of an intro, instead of using the 2D storytellers I wanted to use events to show a short sequence of places on the field, kind of a follow along of my heros journy from home town to kingdome, but i want little to no interaction on the players part. Any creative ideas on how to accomplish this.

Re: Using events for intro
There is no way to do decent cinematics with 3.
The best you could do is jump from location to location and have stuff happen in each, but you can not make the camera move at all. To do that you would use Auto events and Mode Transitions for the character stuff.
With patience you can still have some fun scenes... but it is a real let down overall.
Good Luck with it.

How would i do that, while browsing through these forums i noticed that you posted a vidio of one of your cut scenes but unfortunently the file has expired. What would the code read to be able to do that.

Re: Using events for intro
Here is a link to the Farmer and Clown cut scene.
http://s65.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...Z38YIRH7L41Y29
It features a particularly misogynistic line for which I apologize every time I post this file!
You'll see what I mean about limited camera work.
All you can do is throw in tons of animations with the messages to keep it fresh.
The way it works is thus:
An auto event transitions to the clown, which starts his mode 1 playing.
The motuions and different text boxes are all done from the clown. You can make other characters' animations play from one characters script. Just use the other window and change the name in the message box to complete the illusion.
I plan a demo of this game in the next few weeks (or so).
I hope this helps.
Peace.

Re: Using events for intro
I never mentioned the most important thing about that scene!
It only works right if the main character is the chicken!!!
I guess the baby or puppy would work too, but the point is that a taller character would be on screen.
I put the farmer and clown close to the door so that when the chicken warps in, the camera can't fit between him and the wall.
It took several mistakes to get the camera where I wanted it.
If you don't want a person's over the sholder view, you will need to do this.

More Poultry Prestidigitation!
There are pictures in that thread too!
Peace.

Re: Using events for intro
Ok, I did something similar in my game and here is how I did it. Using the movement command I moved the main character in front of something, this causes the camera to pan up over the characters head. It works best with a wall, I never did it in a field. You can't see the character so it appears just like camera movement. If you wanted to show your party though, you would have to make duplicate characters, which would eat into the precious 100. I used this in my dungeons to highlight important areas as you enter and I like how it looks very much.
edit. I just thought of this, you can't even place people on the field maps!
