Ultimate music guide (And how to use them)

Music plays a huge part in how your game feels, and the titles on RPG maker 3's songs and music selection doesn't quite tell you what it sounds like.
    here you go:
Main theme one: Classic world theme, good for exploration, nothing special.
Main theme two: Mystical, in a way, good for magical feeling fields.
Main theme three: Exciting castle, good for a large open atmousfear.
Main theme four: Battle, this one wouldn't play all the way for me, glitchy.
Main theme five: Sad piano, slow piano to the background of an opera singer.
Main theme six: Sad violin, seems to show how sad reality really is.
Main theme seven: ?, wouldn't play at all for me.
Main theme eight: Town guitar, slow guitar, good for a quiet town.
    Snowy: Magical chimes.
Tropic: Mystic cave, not really beach tropic, but deep jungle.
Victory: Powerful accension, and then quiets down to an upbeat victory tune.
Ghost town: Suspicious empty place, good for empty town.
Desert: Egypt-ish empty town, good for egyptian dungeon.
Peaceful town: Hobbet-like, good for a village like place.
Inn: Jungle flute, good for tropical places.
Castle of light: Deep longing singing, drawn out and good for magic places.
Carnival: Old town dance, like the music from Hunchback Of Notredome.
Shrine: Mystic piano, good for shrines.
Quiet tune: Piano-OK times, good for regular unhappening events, quiet.
Cafe: Quirky, good for spunky places.
Windgust: Storm, best for thunderstorm weather effect.
Sancuary: Pipe organ, good for churches, or magic places.
Boss Battle one: Quicker regular battle song.
Boss Battle two: Fast action, good for putting in the effect of lack of time.
Boss Battle three: Powerful opera singing, really serious.

There's more than that, but these are some of the best, to do your own music check, go into options, and change around the background music, and then listen to a tune while making your game to get to know it better.

About a month after the game came out, I recorded 1.5-2.5 minutes of each song on a minidisc, and I listen to them when I fall asleep. And when I say I listen to them, I mean pretty much EVERY night since the month or so after the game came out. Suprisingly, I'm not sick of the songs yet. It soothes me into a deep slumber.

Well, for me, I have slightly different uses:
Carnival: Acutally, makes decent battle music, especially character/character type battles.
Main Theme 5: Good for sad/holy events.
Main Theme 6: One of my favorites for sad scenes.

Your carnival idea intrigues me, I'll try that, and heres one good one i forgot,
Memories: Final fantasy 8 city theme, good for every town with that effect.

I used Carnival for a battle as well. I also used the Sanctuary music for a battle, I always thought it had a sort of haunting undertone to it.

          A Ronin Story (RPGM3)

I tend to avoid using any slower songs for battle themes. Unless it's something like some dreaded battle for a boss that's going to win in some way in or right after the battle. And certainly not for the final battle.
