    I have a question about customising the default menu

    is this possible?

    I do not want to use the strength and stuff but i'd like to use the menu still, to use items and such..

    You don't have to use it if you want, you can't get rid of it though.

      The only editing you can do to the default menu is adding in new commands in the Setup section of it. And it is actually possible to get rid of the menu entirely, if you wanted to make your own (which would take some work, so I don't know if you'd want to try it yet).

        There is a flag to disable the menus.

        You can also rename strength, etc.

        Check the Menu tabs of both Game Settings and Game: General Settings.

        You can add custom commands there.

        Also, this is where you customize the square button to do whatever you want.

          thanks everyone

          i did manage to disable the standard menu and create my own. It has 3 options, talk, items, and status. I'm working on getting the items to work, but i'm wondering if anyone knows the way i can get the "talk" menu to actually talk to people.

            With the menus disabled, the Triangle button still talks to people and examines things.

            I am not sure you could script those actions.

              You could've also changed the effects of some of the default menu commands like talk, look etc using the game system script.

                Not really. That script only brings up messages like "Who are you talking to?" or "Changed text speed to 1."

                  You can change what happens in those scripts. Like for example, in one of my games, I replaced the Talk option with the Map option, which showed players the map of the current area they were in.

                      Thanks for the feedback everyone.

                      I'll try messing with those scripts tonight. I considered scripting my own "talk" by turning a flag on and off, since i can make my custom menu "talk" do anything i want, but i'd like to be able to use the "talk" start option in the event window if i can.

                      As far as i could tell, the triangle button didn't do anything when i had the menu off, but i'll check again.

                        find that he actually created a pretty good custom menu.
                        It looks like something... I don't know. It looks really, really
                        good. Check it out. I'm thinking about asking him for the
                        scripts. He has a one or two minute download you can
                        view as well, to see it in action. It looks good. Check it out.
                        Maybe it'll give you ideas.
