Everyone knows there have been many problems with the "Anything Goes" contest. Not many people know what the problems were through. They range from people not giving me permission to put their entries on the site and thus getting them kicked out of the contest, The other judge forgetting to review some games and being dropped from the contest judging as a result of that, and more recently me not being able to find contact information for one of the winners, which will likely force me to pick another winner. Smaller issue was that some games were so similar in some ways that me and the other judge kept getting the damn things mixed up.
Another big issue was that my reviews of the games were very, very short (actually just number scores and a few comments), with the full-written reviews being left to the other judge because I have no writing skills. Well, as mentioned above, the other judge was dropped because she forgot to play a lot of games. So now I'm currently in a mad-rush to write full reviews for ONLY the top-placing games in the contest. That means you wont see contest reviews for Legend, or Edward's Quest, or any of the other horrible games that are here. There's just no way I'm going to flesh-out reviews for all 100+ games I played for this thing.
Oh, and because of financial issues, the prize has been changed, but I think it's still pretty cool.
All in all, this contest was an absolute disaster. I was doing too much by myself, working on the reconstruction of the site, my job hunting, and a lot of other crap. I've basically been doing a crash-course on being a webmaster the past year and a half here, and I found out that I suck at organization. I worked my ass off, but there was just too much to do.
The contest was a complete disaster, a failure every step of the way.
I'm sorry.
The contest will be wrapped up next week, I guarantee. If I cant find contact info for one winner by friday, I'll just drop that game from the contest and move on.
Garbage contest will be ended the same day.
No contests will ever have physical prizes again, unless it's a joint project between us and agetec. I just lack the financial stability to do such things.
I'm gonna go kick myself for a while, okay?
