    Non-content update.

Everyone knows there have been many problems with the "Anything Goes" contest. Not many people know what the problems were through. They range from people not giving me permission to put their entries on the site and thus getting them kicked out of the contest, The other judge forgetting to review some games and being dropped from the contest judging as a result of that, and more recently me not being able to find contact information for one of the winners, which will likely force me to pick another winner. Smaller issue was that some games were so similar in some ways that me and the other judge kept getting the damn things mixed up.

Another big issue was that my reviews of the games were very, very short (actually just number scores and a few comments), with the full-written reviews being left to the other judge because I have no writing skills. Well, as mentioned above, the other judge was dropped because she forgot to play a lot of games. So now I'm currently in a mad-rush to write full reviews for ONLY the top-placing games in the contest. That means you wont see contest reviews for Legend, or Edward's Quest, or any of the other horrible games that are here. There's just no way I'm going to flesh-out reviews for all 100+ games I played for this thing.

Oh, and because of financial issues, the prize has been changed, but I think it's still pretty cool.

All in all, this contest was an absolute disaster. I was doing too much by myself, working on the reconstruction of the site, my job hunting, and a lot of other crap. I've basically been doing a crash-course on being a webmaster the past year and a half here, and I found out that I suck at organization. I worked my ass off, but there was just too much to do.

The contest was a complete disaster, a failure every step of the way.

    I'm sorry.

The contest will be wrapped up next week, I guarantee. If I cant find contact info for one winner by friday, I'll just drop that game from the contest and move on.

Garbage contest will be ended the same day.

No contests will ever have physical prizes again, unless it's a joint project between us and agetec. I just lack the financial stability to do such things.

I'm gonna go kick myself for a while, okay?

You should just give a special right out to winners, like make them an Admin or givve them 500 extra rep for smaller contests.

Just because someone can make a good game doesn't mean that they would be a good Admin. Special rights to the winners can be a good idea, though.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

Well, the Garbage Contest's prize is a golden garbage can icon displayed on the user's profile page. Future contest prizes will be cuddly.

no way. thats pretty much saying "make a great game, and win the ability to completely destroy the pavilion!" We're also not letting anyone modify the site.

You could just make a smiley in there honor or something. I don't think that would be very difficult, however it would be a fun gift.

Here's a question...can a previously posted game be entered into the next contest, or is it only for games that are not yet posted here? Basically, do I have to wait to "publish" my game until the contest starts, or can I post it now (err...soon) and enter it into the contest once it starts?

Well, if you ever do any contest with a lot of entrees again, you could always try and recieve help from the Pavilion. People could freely play whichever games are entered, and give their own general (but usable) opinions to be used for the final judging.

All-in-all, at least you'll know better than to try a "Best RPGM game of all time" contest again. Though it's kinda a shame that every game that isn't "the best" isn't going to be getting a review. Maybe I should make another attempt at playing through the games here. It's so hard choosing a good game when most of them don't have a review (or any information at all, for that matter).
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Valk, I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work on this mega project. I dont believe It was a failure. It motivated some of us to start, continue or even finish some of our projects, which is ultimately what it should have done anyway. As for the games you reviewed that were completed pre-contest, well I say that it is simply a celebration of peoples efforts to RPGMaker, themselves, and to this community. Thanks for always trying pump fresh blood into what we are doing here.
