This looks pretty cool. Love the rotoscoping, looks to be much better quality than Waking Life(which was also a good movie). Now that I think about it, didn't Richard Linklater direct Waking Life too?
Yeah....and Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Slacker, SuBurbia, Tape, and, erm...The Newton Boys and The Bad News Bears. He is my favorite director. Thing is, I really can't stand Keanu Reeves. And so you know, this project was originally planned to be written by Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and directed by Chris Cunningham (known for videos by Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Bjork, and others)...this would truly have been something to see. But I'm just as happy (happier) that it's being done by Linklater. You know, he does discuss Philip K. Dick in an important scene near the end of Waking Life, so he evidently has some connection to the piece.
The Philip K. Dick scene of Waking Life is the best part of the movie.
It WAS a good scene, as it kind of tied the movie together, but for comedic purposes, the scene in the convenience store takes the cake.
And, yeah, Tape was good for what it was. However, of all his films, I'm still partial to Before Sunrise (with a close second going to Slacker, as that is the film that introduced me to Linklater's work).
I think that after this film gets released, Linklater is finally going to get the recognition he deserves (not counting Bad News Bears and School of Rock, as he was a director for hire on those projects). This makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy, because he deserves it, and sad because I think the small following he has is going to be obliterated by the mass of people who are all of a sudden "big fans" of his work.
