    Guild Wars?

I dunno...I've heard good and bad things about it, and only know a grand total of 1 player. But, I never pay by month for any game, so this is definantly appealing.
For those who've played it...what do you think?

I love Guild Wars, at first you may be shocked at the low level cap. But think of it like a beefed up Diablo. I love this game because instead of hours played, it requires the skill of the user. I talked briefly about it on the FFXI thread and prefer it over WoW or Everquest.

The best part is that it is for free. That means if decide to take a break, you have no obligation to keep playing because you are not paying for it!

The towns are like servers while the fields are instances. Meaning you will not encounter any other players that are not in your group. No Kill-Stealers here!

There is an expansion coming out in a couple of months, but you can just buy that instead of both! You will be left out of the Storyline and will not be able to play the original game, but you still can enjoy it without shelling out $90 for both (50 for original 40 for expansion).

Actually, the orginial is only 40$ new, so I'd probably get that, if any. Although Master of Orion 3 is only 10 dollars now, so that may distract me...

I played it for a long long time, and i can tell you that its a great game. I find myself having urges to still play it from time to time, and honestly i dont knwo why i stopped. But yes, i would suggest it very much so.

It's $50 if you buy it online ala download it.

I got mine for $50 (at a store) but that was a couple years ago.

Anybody planning on getting Guild Wars Factions. I might. I didn't pay much attention to GW but I am interested in it. I like MMORPGs and to play one without a monthly fee would be nice. Factions sounds really good. Especially with the big ongoing PVP war and everything.

The fun ends quick with GWs, it isnt like other MMO's. I did beta and bought it after it released, then became bored with it very quiclkly. The PVE side of it just doesn't have enough content...but then that is why there is no monthly fee.

That can be argued. I played WoW for 1 week and got bored so fast my hair grew 10".... With GW I played for months on end and never got bored. It's all about preferance. If you like to Grind, sit around for raid, and deal with Leeroy Jenkin wannabes than that is for you. If you want leavers, running and farming and PVP then that is for you.
