    Mental effects of mono?

Well, I suppose a few may know, but I got over mono a few weeks ago, still dealing with some of it. I guess I made this because I was wondering if recent problems may have been affected my mono, and didn't want to bother with medical sites or anything, I just want to know what people think.

Ok, so, the big example is this: Everyone has told me my acting is good, and even the director was dissapointed when I told her I was too busy to try out for the last play. I went to try-outs today (day 2 of 3) and felt as if my acting was a piece of... doo.
I also feel the same about my music making and my writing, even though I guess I have also felt that way about my writing.

I just want to know if this was possibly an effect of the sickness, or if I might be depressed, or just screwed up in the head.

Actually, you sound perfectly normal to me.

    edit:

But, if you are concerned, know that mild depression and fatigue are possible side-effects of mononucleosis.

Mono, being a viral glandular infection, can run the gamut of symptoms and severities. Some symptoms can last for months and months at a time. Are you still feeling any other symptoms?

You know, you very well could just be suffering from a general malaise while your body internally recuperates. I guess you could make sure to get ample rest (more than usual), drink plenty of fluids, avoid caffeine, and don't over exert yourself--to be safe.

However, I wouldn't be quick to let a message board poster or the internet diagnose you with depression offset by your infection. See a doctor if you're worried.

Everything I do that I knew I was at least fairly good at has kind of given way... how is that normal?

I dont know much about mono. I do know that it can cause extreme fatigue and that could definately have an effect on all the things you have mentioned. You could also be hyper-sensitive about your behavior and performance because you have been ill for so long and you may still be adjusting.

Im sorry to hear that you have been so ill Mono is a nasty hang and I know it can take a good while before your back on your game.

You take care of yourself. Things will be fine

Sorry, I didn't edit in time. And the way you presented your concerns sounded more like low self-esteem. If you've been on bedrest, your acting may have suffered from lack of practice. Besides, every artist goes through periods of insecurity about their work. I wouldn't consider those things dire enough to claim depression over, in my opinion.

"I thought I had mono once for an entire year. Turns out I was just really bored." -Wayne's World

That sucks, dude. I had mono in high school. Two weeks of feeling 'blah'. I never really felt the depression afterwards, but maybe I never noticed it because I was already depressed.

some of my older sound systems don't support it though, so i just make do.

Oh, so thats why you were screwed up in the head at acting.
Your acting isn't doo. Besides, theres like 25-30 guys trying for 20 roles. You should get in.
