I must say, this game is pretty difficult to handle.
If I had more time on it, I probably would use it more often.
I haven't created anyone.
Any of you create something using it?

I made two fighters in FM2. Both were deleted by my max drive.
Turtle Jesus, who was pretty much exactly what he sounds like.
The other one was some female fighter whom I always forget the name of. I think it was Alice. anyways, she was constantly attacked by invisible spirits during battle. so she'd go to punch and suddenly something would grab her arm and break it, trip her, snap her neck, or just smash her into a tiny wad of lady.
When I get free time, I plan to remake them both.

Same here. It took forever to create a character (I never finished one), but I am somewhat interested in getting back into it. I just need to reaquire a copy, and get a new memory card to hold the 1000-some-odd memory it takes to save fighters (already have two for regular games, and one for RPGM2 and 3 games).

What all can you control in Figher Maker? I thought you basically just made the animations for moves and everything else was choosing from presets. But that's just based on half read reviews.

you make the moves with the animation editor. they can be any kind of move you want, like.. a man wearing another man as a hat.
FM2 you actually get to use a character model creation engine too. its not that great, but it works.

Just in case someone submitted a FM1 character, FM1 characters could be imported into FM2, couldn't they?
Valkysas

yup. sometimes they're a bit buggy though.

I never knew old FM1 characters could be imported.
I'll have to ask my friend to borrow his FM2....

I dont have FM1 anymore, so I can't really speak for anything in that game.
I do still have FM2 though, and in that you just select a body type for them, and thats it as far as customizing the size of that um... area. they don't go overboard on breast size like most fighting games do (which I'm glad they don't, fighters dont normally have a lot of body fat, so a large chest on a very athletic woman isn't realistic at all)
although there is jiggle, which I imagine you'd appreciate.

yeah, the only frame changes you can make on someone really is by giving them high heels or platform shoes or something.
But holy **** is the jiggle something, it's on everything, the boobs, the thighs, the ass...... :drool

FM1 has no character customization other than filling the BIO. =/
Jiggle you say? :lol

the jiggle is not DoA quality. It jiggles really quick. So if you want bouncing stuff ya gotta make a fighter that seems like a spaz.

Do you have to make animations just for walking? Because I made one move and went to try it out, and my fighter wouldn't even walk forward to attack my opponent. She just stood there no matter how many times I pressed her to go forwards.

Yes, you need to make the walk animation. You could just be lazy and make the fighter slide across the arena if you just want to check out a move. Just edit the Z pos and put it in a loop.

Yeah, unless there was a way to use preset animations, you have to make your own walking animation. On the plus side, you could make a fighter that walks on his hands. Or on all fours. Or on his head. Or any other interesting place you could think of.

How many moves can you create (total)?

Blah, nevermind. I dunno how I read over that one word.

an easy trick for making a walking animation
create a step and just reverse it(it's one of the options)
It's easy and will look pretty good

I just randomly pulled my character's legs in strange directions to create his walking forward animation, and for his back one he hovers in the air and sways from side to side. :D

I just picked up FM2 for $10 at Gamepots (I mean Gamestop). Just one question:
Why did Enterbrain insist on all the fine print? I mean, if you're sitting more than a couple of feet away from the screen you can't make out anything at this size. It's the worst thing to happen to the entire designer series, especially RPGM2. I would love RPGM2 if I could read the screen.
I've got a couple of ideas for fighters, so I may submit a few sometime.

I'm quite curious what type of TV you're using. I've played RPGM2 (not FM2) on three or four different TVs, one probably 10 or so years old, and I could read the text on each one.

for the people talking about walking animations, simply load one of the preset characters into Player 2, and copy his walk (or any other) animation, and paste it on to your character.
The only problem i have with the game is the very limited visuals with the characters. I can barely create characters that i've already designed elswhere. I'd rather use the "Create-A-Player" mode from the WWE Smackdown! series to design the looks.
other than that, you can pretty much make your character do anything with his or her body.
some visual effects like projectiles and such could be useful for a more "Bloody Roar-ish or Street Fighter EX type 3d fighter. but for more tekken or virtua fighter type, you can pretty much do anything, if you have patience.
i usually copy the walking animation and tweak it from there, thats a very advanced process, that a lot of intermediated animators haven't mastered yet.

I recreated Mitsumi in her Christmas outfit (from Love Hina) when I had the game. Now the data is gone, but I wouldn't mind giving it another shot.
