    WTF? Only ONE possible color?!

...So, if I wanted to make a XL monster, I have to choose the Big Orange Dragon? Why can't it be a Big Blue Dragon? or RED?! And why can't I have a Black Lizardman anymore?! Or an Elfin Mage or any of the things that I'd really want instead of the preset "things" that the programers decided would be for the best? I am so temped to just go back to RM1 (don't own 2) because although RM3 looks nice and (it claims) its very easy to use, RM1 was WAY more versatile!

ANYWAY, the real reason I posted this was to see what other people are thinking. Chalk up your vote for fav RM (xp isn't out yet, right?) and let the world know who rules the land of RM Pavilion! ...or something like that...

      I say 2!

But I have not seen XP yet.

The reason I can still say 2, withous ever seeing XP is that I am limiting my considerations to console makers.

      XP is a PC Maker.

      The comparison is unfair!

Even given the processor power and file importability differences, RPGM2 is 3D, while XP is still 1 D short of Gloriousity, despite how close it comes!

      2 Rules!

Where else can you do this:

      Peace.

[I think]2 has been the best one so far. Hearsay doesn't describe the greatness on one disc.

I picked three. Go ahead, hate me. But when you get as complex as RPGM2, I just scrap it and go to Qbasic. I would probably pick one if it had a keyboard function.

I think its a tie between 1 and 3. why not 2? 3 will eventually have way more games finished than 2 will.

I also support 1 and 3 in this manner because I believe they are easier to playtest, which (as I have stated elsewhere) I believe to be the #1 most important thing when it comes to making games that YOU INTEND FOR STRANGERS TO PLAY.

RPGM 2 can produce wonderful parts of games, but the effort-to-product ratio is too expensive to create a seemlessly enjoyable complete game (speaking in terms of a game being made by 1 person. If we worked in groups, that might be a different story).

I voted for 2, mainly because of it's versitility. It's not so easy to warm up to because of it's look and it's high learning curve but once you get used to it, you really see how much freedom you have on it when compared to the other two.

I chose 1. Mainly because there is more you can do with it than 3 and is not as hard to work with as 2. However, 2 is the best if you are have alot of perserverence (sorry can't spell). But they are all alot of fun and I am glad to have obtained them all.

3, because I dont own 2 and 1 does not have Keyboard Support.

                    I never played 1
2 has way more customization options, and even though 2 has some limitations and its a bit graphically challenged (as in it looks ugly) its allows more to the imagination.
I like how 3 does a lot of the work for you (like automatic warping into a town or house, etc) but you still cant create a lot, execpt maybe the inside of a dungeon, and a LOT of script has been taken out.

I think if they combine the ease of 3 and the options in 2 when they create 4, it would be the perfect game.

You'll change your mind in a few weeks.

I don't like the option of ONE color for large monsters in 3 either. I liked the fact that you could make BIGGER monsters and make them change colors every 3 seconds in 2.

Actually, my prime reason I loved RPGM3 is the map maker. Spend an hour/hour and a half on a map, you'd be amazed. Freaking amazed.
And Faerie, EVERYONE wants the ease of 3 with the options of 2. But do you know why 3 is so easy? Because it doesn't have the options of two.

I doubt it. Seems more people prefer 2's potential with complexity over 3's simpleness with severe limitations.

Anyway, for me it's a tough choice between 1, 2, and XP.

1 is easy to use and allows for custom sprites (something I like to use now, even though I've never publicly used them). It's biggest downsides (as I've stated several times before) are the lack of variables and if/then commands. I don't mind the lack of keyboard support or inability to move more than one character so much.

2 is super complex where everything takes longer than it should (except typing). But it also is very much powerful, and it's 3D. I have an easier time presenting cinematics in 3D than I do in 2D. Though, RPGM1 doesn't allow for super great cinematics, so that might be part of the reason.

XP is easy to use, and again allows for custom sprites, as well as custom graphics for everything. Unfortunately, I simply haven't taken advantage of its power yet. Heck, haven't used it much at all. Maybe once I get an idea ready for use on XP, I'll actually use it. So far, it's pretty much the only RPGM that I haven't dug into fully, and that's why I can't say it's my favorite right now.

                          So, I went with 2.
And Faerie, EVERYONE wants the ease of 3 with the options of 2. But do you know why 3 is so easy? Because it doesn't have the options of two.
It at least needs the options of 1. It wouldn't be much more difficult with more options at all. No RPGM should have less options than 1. Seeing some of the options from 2 wouldn't have hurt much either, so long as stuff like item creation was left somewhat simple (i.e. not having to create a bunch of scripts in order for an item to work).

Very true. People wanted better stuff, they got it and then some and look how people reacted. Anyone who held 3 above all else are better off with 3/1.

Part of the problem was RPGM2 was too big of a jump. RPGM1 pretty much did all of the complex stuff for you. Then RPGM2 came out, and they were like:

"Here, it's your turn to do the complex stuff. Or you can use the default stuff, but it's mostly crappy and you'll wind up having to fiddle around with it all in order to make it better anyway."

RPGM2 is pretty much only for those who see the massive potential that RPGM2 has and have the desire to conquer the complexity to make the most awesomest game EVAR. Everyone else has to settle for one of the other three RPGMs, and frankly, it's hard to please everyone at this point in time. Like I said, RPGM3 only needed the options that RPGM1 had (sans Anime Maker of course). Perhaps if that were the case, every RPGMer could be happy with what they have. As it stands now, though, there is no real middle ground.
