    I can't Vote!!!

    There is no "Sometimes" option.

You oughtta woik for those folks who take political polls!

Talk about skewing the results by the way you phrase a question!!

    Sometimes.

I mostly play games by the folks who have helped me out on the boards when I have a question. I consider giving feedback a way of returning the favor.

Also work by those who impress me in other ways.

But I select by the creator, not the game or platform.

That's my Buck 'O Five worth.

    Peace.

    MOO!

Re: Do you play the submitted games?

i've only just got a max drive about a week ago, so i've never played any RPG Maker games, and i've yet to play any RPG Maker 3 games..

i'm going through all the demos i can right now, since they're short enough to get a taste of what the creator was trying to bake up. the only full game i've finished for rpg maker 2 is hippy hunt 2, but that was a short game anyway.

to answer your question in general terms though: yes.

I realized that I put often instead of a plain yes...Sorry about that.

Someone voted for NEVER. Shame on that person!

Yes, I sometimes play submitted games if I ever get the chance.

It's hard to find the time to do it but I try to play other people's games here, and most of the time, it's a lot of fun playing them (I really enjoyed Faith of the One and Forgotten Isle). I pretty much only play full games though, not demos.
            Games:

SS World (RPGM2) Extravaganzicon Contest Winner
            A Ronin Story (RPGM3)
            SS World 2 (RPGM2)

Re: Do you play the submitted games?

I do play submitted games sometimes. But since I know authors can do alot better than they have in their games, my expectations are pretty high for them.

I'm with Rodak on this. I play sometimes and it depends on my mood/if I have the time.

Other than that, yeah, I play the submitted games.

There is one thing that pretty much disturbes me in an SRPG....

                  Maronakins.

I try to play a majority. But mainly I play those who's description intrigue me, or ones that have been talked about a lot.

I'm kinda the same way. After creating my own great (thouch could've used work) game, I expect everyone else's to be awesome. And yet, I always am disappointed, despite my own game's shortcomings.

                      Yes, I suck.

Re: Do you play the submitted games?

A Part of me wants to play every game submitted and give some sort of official review.

What happens most of the time is that a game will be good, or ok, and then something dreadful happens where it takes like 45+ mins to get through a mazy ( and perhaps dull) dungeon, or "go back to previous area and locate that really hard to find Item in order to continue"-or some other devestating event like that, that causes me to lose intrest.

The problem I have is that while many of the game creators here have lots of good Ideas and make great PARTS OF GAMES, they have a tougher time creating a SEEMLESSLY PLEASENT expirience throughout an entire game.

I believe that the hardest and most important part of making a game (that you intend for a stranger to play), is playtesting. PLAYTEST, PLAYTEST, PLAYTEST! When you playtest, remember that the player doesn't know whats in your head. dont make any assumptions. Have PATIENCE to play it over and over.

Just becuase you mean for a game to be "challenging" doesn't neccassarily mean it's "fun".

If only we each had someone working for us that just sat around and tested our creations and then gave us feedback.

Maybe, my standards are just too "commercial" or "pop" for this community.

Dont get me wrong though. this site and all of the people in it are pretty cool.

Well, I don't expect them to be Final Fantasies or anything, but at the very least have the obvious bugs gone. I can understand for demos there are going to be slip ups, but full games should at the very least, allow you to beat the game without any impeding problems, especially if it was built with the default stuff in it.

Re: Do you play the submitted games?

Alutra, I'm so glad I read your post today. You inspired me to playtest my game this morning while seeing it from another perspective. I've got ton's of ideas to implement that will really add polish and profesionalism to my game.

My game turns out to be really good, I only have about 2 hours of GP so far, but what I have is solid. I can honestly say there are aspects to my game that just have never been done. A cynic might say there's a reason for this, but I have a vision.

I haven't played any created games, but I sure plan to. I only have RPGM3, so my selection is limited. I want to play whatever Rodak comes out with on 3, that dude is one original, uh well, dude.

this is a little off topic, but the 100 people limit is starting to kill me. I want my towns to be reasonably populated. This might limit me to 4 or 5 towns.
Out of curiousity, what was the people limt in the other 2 console "maker" games?
