    Final Fantasy: Time and Again

Set in Ivalice during the time of Final Fantasy 4, the game follows the story of Azrael, a dragoon of Baron, Lucien, a half-demon orphan from Mysidia, and Phae-Rel, an unbalanced psionic wanderer.
The game explores the religous and political aspects impacting the world that was only hinted at in Final Fantasy 4, with the backdrop of Azrael slowing realizing her powers as a time mage. The story was played as a Dungeons and Dragons campaign for over a year before we decided to make a game out of it, so the sotry is fleshed and the characters are well defined.
The synopsis of the story would take literally hours to tell, and will definitely over 30 hours playtime, with sidequests and minigames, in addition to boasting "The War of the Chosen", a climax to one episode of the story that will ambitously contain 32 characters.
In terms of technical detail, the game has the Dragoon class "Jump" command, fully working in the DBS, along with "Steal" and "Mug" commands, done without using the one round Stun trick, and allowing for both common and rare steals, a brand new CMS for Alchemists, a new type of shop very similar to the "Synth Shop" of Final Fantasy 9.
Most of the character sets were hand designed in the FF6 style and adapted to the maps. The chipset is the same, but has been upgraded to allow for new areas in addition to ALL of the original locations from the Japanese hardtype version, the original cd quality soundtrack with minor replacements from the "Celtic Moon" cd and other FF themes.
And as far as the game itself, progress at this point is over 30 %. Most maps are done, main battle character sets are complete, the systems are 90% complete, and all skills/animations have been laid out. We've been working on this a year now, so hopefully we'll be wrapping it up in the next couple of months, eventing is all that seems left. The game already has about 10-12 hours playable, with opening sidequests, etc. We'd love to hear what everyone thinks of our work. We also have a website with screenshots, and information,

The demo is rather large but includes great mp3's, voice overs, fmv's and more.
So come on in and visit our site and forums!

    Welcome.

This is quite interesting. But, tell me, which RPG Maker did you use to make this, exactly?

If you made this with RPG Maker 2k3, I'm afraid you'll have to cease mentioning it immediately. 2k3 is an illegal, pirated software, and is not advocated in any way in this community. If not, that's fine and dandy.

I don't want to be a grouch, what with this being your first time here, but rules are rules. However, if you can transfer your work to RPGMXP, which has a legal US release, and can be found at downloads.com for $60 and a 30 day free trial, it shouldn't be a problem. It certainly looks like you put a lot of work into this project, regardless.

I'm assuming that this game is for the RPGMaker XP? Anyways, wow, it looks like you a lot of time into this game. I personally wouldn't make any game based off of any of my favorite games with puting so much dedicated time, but that's just me.

The game is made with RPGM2k3, which is unfortunate, as it shows a lot of promise.

Ya beat me to it. It is 2k3, but if somehow you can convert it to XP it would actually be legal.

I don't think it could be converted.

Also, I'd like to mention that FF4 doesn't take place in Ivalice. Ivalice wasn't even invented until Final Fantasy Tactics (between FF7 and 8), and it's only being used on Tactics, Tactics Advance, and 12.

Otherwise, it sounds cool, and I would definately be interested if it were put onto RMXP instead. Or if you have a legally bought import of 2K3 (which is unlikely, but possible).

As for the ivalice debate, yes, ff4 did take place on ivalice, and it is a canon, official part of the series. Complete all jobs in tactics, one of you're prizes is "discovering" the ruins of baron castle, among a few other nods to ff4. basically, the description tactics gives baron is part of an "ancient civilization".

              From my tactics save file:

              "Castle of Trials"
In the past this was a military school for the Baron Kingdom. An exceptional group of pilots called "Red Wings" graduated from this academy. Even a great instituton like this is now destroyed.

              "Tower of Babel"
The legendary tower that reaches to Heaven from deep underground. It's also called Giant's Tower. More than a legend, this is a valuable record of ancient civilization.

as for an xp shift, it may take place at some point, but much later, well after the full completion of the 2k3 game.

Well that shows what I know. I never finished Tactics.

Nice seeing you then. Unless you have a purchased and legal version of RPGM2k3, it isn't to be discussed here. I hate to bring this up, as this is a good game idea, but the topic will be locked. Please read.
