    Whats some good sad music?

I require music that would make the manliest of muscle men cry like a little baby.

Let's look at my playlist... hrm...

Azure Ray - The Drinks We Drank Last Night
      Beck - Round The Bend
Bright Eyes - Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh
      Cursive - The Recluse
Death Cab For Cutie - Stable Song
From Autumn To Ashes - Short Stories With Tragic Endings
      Interpol - NYC
      Jerry Cantrell - Settling Down
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness(first track of first disc, piano solo)
      Weezer - Death And Destruction

...Those are some of the 'sad' songs I found scrolling down through the ol' playlist. I know I have more, I was listening to a bunch when I got home for some reason.

Did you ever hear any Anthony Phillips?

His early stuff is a real juxtaposition of beatuiful and happy music with terribly depressing lyrics.

The Geese and The Ghost has a bit that goes:

        I stood

        My Gun In Hand

        The Swallow Flew

        To Meet His Love

        And As They Touched

        I Shot Him Down

        But Now It's Me

        That Can't Fly.
Ant used to play guitar for Genesis, but only on the first two albums. You know... when Peter Gabriel formed the band AT 15 YEARS OLD!!! THE BASTARD!!

        But I digress.

        Early Anthony Phillips.

Wise After The Event is good for this too.

Got a great song called Holy Deadlock:

        Where we are

        Is Holy Deadlock

        God Had A Nerve

        When He Named It Wedlock

Couldn't He Have Found Another Way?

        Why Do We

        Sit Here In Misery

        Is It Democracy

        Or Just Insane?

You And Your Yen To Be

        High In Society

        Speaking Financially

        It Looks Like Rain

        And You Say

"Boy, You Better Be Nice To Me

I'll Get What Is Coming To You

I'll Take All The Property Too!"
It goes on, but that's enough.

        I need a tissue...

        Peace.

        MOO!

          The Recluse by Cursive
          Street Spirit by Radiohead
Ballad of Hollis Brown by Bob Dylan.

And my personal favorite by far, Heartattack in a Layby by Porcupine Tree.

Belle and Sebastian's "Lord Anthony" is kind of depressing.

            Oh, and KOMM SUSSER TOD.

Oh yeah, what Snarf mentioned, Aimee Mann... most of the soundtrack of Magnolia is rather melancholy.

Sonata Arctica is one of my top 10 favorite bands ever.

Really though , don't listen to Alternative 4, unless you want to leave depressed. I can't even stand to listen to it.
