Also do any of you guys still play RPG maker 1? Cause if not then there's no reason to complete my game. (well I guess the satisfaction of making a game would be enough )

Are you kidding? There are MANY games in development for RPGM1 even now (two from me, and yours for example). And yes, I do play a lot of games just for story. Although I like the gameplay of the Silent Hill games, it is the story that makes me constantly play them.
But that's just because I had to play through games like Edward's Quest back when RM1 came out. I can't even deal with that piece of software anymore without yelling at how simple it is.

I play RPG Maker 1 and I'm currently making a game for (which I should finish it by some time this summer, but probably won't). That could be a bad thing since playing other people's games right now isn't one of my top priorities right now (heck, I barely get the chance to make my own game).
To answer your first question, no. I'd like to see more work in a game than just text (since the game would only be story). In the game there's got to be some cool cut-scenes, brilliant dungeon designs, and some tough challenges. There's more to a game than just story, trust me.
Cause if not then there's no reason to complete my game.
In fact there's not a point for anything if you really think about it, but that advice isn't going to modivate you will it? Hey, I had the same problem with my game Monkey Brothers. I've felt that making my game was pointless since I (and still am) practically was just doing this for myself and a majority of people probably wouldn't care to play it. Now that's not necessarily true, about mine or anybody else's game (as far as I'm concerened). Consider this, some people don't have the time to play other people's games and are too busy to do so (like me). Don't give up hope if someone doesn't play your game right away, people will play your game (especially if it's finished) and might even give you feedback if you request it. So, there is a point to completing your game.

I just need to hook up my PSone, fish out some memory cards, find a 9pin converter port for my PC, and get my dexdrive going again.
Ah, yes, the only drawback of RPGM1, other than controller-based text input. It's a real shame Max Drives and Max Drive software corrupts PS1 data, otherwise I'd be hittin the RPGM1 play scene hardcore. I think if I can get my old PC up and running I can hook my Dex Drive up to it. Then I just use my PSP or a USB drive to transfer the games from my new PC to the old one.
As for playing for story. Man, if everyone worried that story wasn't enough we wouldn't have half the games we do on the Pavilion (Or commercial RPG's for that matter). Minigames and cool character-building systems are good additions, though, and don't assume that typing the final line of text in any way is the product's completion point. You can always make the text a little better here and there, maybe throw in some extra optional content, maybe some easter eggs.
Remember, half the fun of most RPG's is exploration.
My absolute favorite computer / console game of All Time is The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
It was an all text adventure game that Rules over EVERY game out there.
So I guess I gotta say Yes. I would play a game just for story.
But bear in mind that these text driven games were far better thought out than most commercial games (let alone those we make for fun). They had to be.
But it still has to count as story driven, despite the vast ammount of branches and optional stuff most people will never see.
Yes I do play games sometimes just to see what happens next. And for RPG Maker 1 since there aren't as many things you can do with it, sometimes you have to make at least a decent storyline for people to want to play it. As you can see from my sig I am working on a project of my own for RPG Maker 1. Haven't decided on a name for it nor have I finished planning out the storyline but I will fill the holes as I complete my game.
It's been a week since I worked on it though, maybe I should get some more work done on it but i just dont like making the beginning of the game. I like working on the middle and the end, when the storyline starts to really heat up. My game has such a large storyline that I dont know if I can fit it in RPG Maker1. Its good though, at least I think so. I will post some stuff about my game on the forums when I finish the first half of my game because then I should have all the holes in the storyline filled by then.
I would to an extent. I'm not going to play through a game if the gameplay is crap, i.e. battles unbalanced, dungeons uninteresting (I'll accept old-school mazes, but if it's something like a mostly-linear area with little to no scenery, then it's uninteresting), etc.
To Chaos: Potentially any game could fit on RPGM1. Assuming you're willing to force the player to switch back and forth between memory cards if required. I'll go as far as making them switch between scenario cards, but if it turns out a second system card is required to switch between (more than once; just the one switch wouldn't be too bad), then I would try to put the game on a different RPGM. My big project wound up being moved because of this (potentially I could have fit it on one system card had I used lots of sample maps, but I don't like using those).

Well Draygone, I want try and fit my game onto RPGM 1 for 2 reasons
1) I have already decided on what the characters will look like and if I use RPGM 2 then chances are that not all of my characters will look similar to how i planned them.
2)I suck at RPGM 2 >_<
