Lucky?

It wasn't at close range.

At the distance he was shot, he just got 'sprayed' by the shot (BBs) of the blast. The BBs have a way slower velocity than say a typical rifle round. Way easier to survive than a pointblank shotgun blast, at which case he would have lost the front portion of his face.

Yeah. You can fire a shotgun across a Football field--When it reaches the 100 yards, they just sting or bruise.

My friend's dad used to do that all the time back in the good ol' 70s.

Apparently one of the pellets that penetrated the guy's skin migrated to his heart and caused him to have a heart attack. If this guy dies, Cheney could be charged with negligent homicide. This sounds like something that could only happen on '24'.

Ofcourse we all know the president would take the most appropriate and citizen pleasing route and simply pardon him.
