    Mega Man X Collection

I know there was a topic of this before...

I bought it last night, and already have played most of MMX1. I've also sampled the other games, and playing MMX4-6 feels weird, mostly because they're taller and the graphics have changed so much.

But playing MMX3, I have to say, why did they change it all around like that? It feels almost nothing like it did before. The sound effects and music have all been redone and there are FMV intros of each of the Mavericks before you enter their stages. I had this feeling of displacement when I played MMX3, like I wasn't playing the same game.

I say, either do it for all three SNES X games, or none at all.

Ah... I still feel weird playing it. I'm so used to the old SFX and music.

Thanks to MMXC, I was able to beat MMX1, 2 and 3 for the first time, as I was unable to when I was younger, and haven't been able to locate the carts since.

My only problem with the newer X3 would be the obnoxiously loud charge sound. I'm the type who always keeps his buster charged, so it hurt my ears and annoyed me. I got used to it eventually.

I think my favorite X game is either X1, 2 or 8. X3 deserves big-time kudos for it's more-than-run-of-the-mill approach, the game changing depending on how you play it.

There's something I can't really put my finger on, though... Regarding X6, what makes it so "bad"?

Speaking of the collection, it was definitely great practice for MegaMan: Maverick Hunter X, which I got today and marathon'd.

          Re: Mega Man X Collection

I'm glad to have all 2D X games on 1 disc.
I've been waiting to have an X collection ever since the day I... SOLD.. X1-X3.. The biggest sin I have ever done.

          Anyway..
The sounds and music in X3 needed some time to get used to, but I still can't get over the annoying 'hum' sound ya get when you charge your buster and the ear stabbing 'death' sound.

          Got a question though:
My memory might be rusty or my disc a bit messed up, but isn't the music in MMX1 and MMX2 a bit too loud? I can hardly hear the player's gun shots or the explosions..

Regarding X6.. I applaud the designer on that game, for making the hardest 2D MMX game in all history. The last few boss battles are insane.

Story-wise, X6 was 'meh'. But I loved saving the reploids and getting the added health and weapons energy, as well as all the different abilities.

And I loved X's shadow armor. Spikes won't kill ya, and if you had the item to keep shots fully charged you could tear through a level with no problem, so long as you were willing to sacrafice ranged attacks.

I still bought the collection mainly for x1-3, but its annoying that they didn't keep the new/updated stuff that they had finished. Mavrick Hunter X doesn't appeal to me enough to buy a PSP.

I just got this a few days ago as well. I'm going through all the X games in order. It was awsome going through X1 again and now I'm working on beating X2 for the first time (that game has weird music).

I like the music in X2. Especially the Maverick intros at the beginning of each stage. I actually like that one instead of the classic music that plays during the intros in X1 and all of the NES Mega Man games.

My favorite boss intro music at the begining of the stage would have to be the one from X5 (even though the actual boss music kinda sucks in that game)

But yeah, I do like the music in X2, it's just a bit different. I like how the boss music sounds a bit comical.

I just saw a copy of X2. Box and possibly manual included. I almost got it. Except I knew about this collection already. That, and it was selling for $80. 0_0

On a slightly related note, I also saw a copy of Mega Man 3. Box and possibly manual included again. I almost got it also. But again, there's a collection.

There was also Mega Man 2 on the Game Boy. I didn't want it.

Megaman X is awsome, it's definately my favorite of the Megaman series with the original following close behind. Speaking of which, I should really get the regular Megaman colection as well. I have Megaman 1 and 3 for NES but I hear that Megaman 2 is the best of the original series (never played it).
