    1914 Silent Wizard of Oz!

    Dollar stores is interestink.

    Looky what I found:

2 volumes of classic 1914 Silent Film adaptations of L Frank Baum Oz Novels!!!

    Hollywood ruined the original story.

As an example: The Emerald City was not Green in the books.

The Wizard was a madman who made everyone wear Emerald colored glasses so they would all think it was green. If I recall correctly, he told everyone that the glasses would save them from going mad at the sight of so gloruious a city.

Anyway... The second feature is an adaptation of His Majesty The Scarecrow of Oz (yes, there were many books) and was Directed by L. Frank Baum Himself!!!!!!

I had no idea these existed and look forward to posting a review after I watch them.

I just thought you all should know these exist.

    Peace.

Is that the one in which the Scarecrow finds out he is the recarnation of a king from an underground kingdom? And the spirit travled up the beanpole and into the inert scarecrow?

        Loki:

        I dunno.

I haven't read Baum for decades. I'll be watching these this weekend and will let you know.

        Jester:

I love Oz too. Which is why I can't stand the movie.

I just can't get past the liberties they took.

        Peace.

Yeah I read all the Baum books in the series when I was young.

          I was a strange kid.

Lemme know how the movies are!

I'd like to see Tim Burton create his own vision of Oz.
I dunno why, anyone else think that'd be interesting to see? Doesn't matter if the movie is good or not, just curious how crazy he could make it.

Actually, I believe the Scarecrow becomes king because he's so smart.

Actualy I'm think of The Royal Book of OZ in which the Scarecrow finds out that he's the reencarnation of a emperor.

From Wikipedia: "The Scarecrow, going on a quest to find his family tree, slides down a magic bean-pole and discovers he is actually the Emperor of the mysterious underground Silver Islands"

Not as you put it "because he's so smart."

I read a lot of the Oz books when I was a lad, too.

They're pretty freaky as I remember them:

I don't know why, but the Oz stuff seems kinda spooky to me.

Why does Dr. Pipt use his Powder of Life for evil?

Just how many Oz books were there?!

I remember really liking Patchwork Girl of Oz a lot. But yeah, that cover sucks.

My favorties were Ozma of Oz and Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

                              NOME KING.

I'm amazed other people here have read them. I thought I was the only kid after 1954 who read the Oz books.
