Re: Any cool triigers?
A trigger is just that. A trigger. In effect what it does is trigger an event. It can be anything from playing a cinematic to causing the world to split in two. It's kind like an 'if then' statement. 'If' this condition is met 'then' this happens. Anyways, there are no triggers as far as I can see in this thing. Only variables and modes.
Oh and to you other 2 dudes. You're messing with an RPG Maker and you don't know what triggers are? <clucks tongue> Shame on you.
Hmm...incidently if you don't know what triggers are I suppose you also don't know what fork conditions are huh?Last edited by Drako; 02-21-2006, 08:09 AM.

Re: Any cool triigers?
If you need a fancy name for an event condition then it is you on whom shame should be!
Call it by it's proper name if you want us intellectuals to understand you.
So, to answer the question; Use whatever you want.
It is only a story element, not a programming trick.
Peace.

Re: Any cool triigers?
Well, cool is subjective.
I think it's cool to make games with animals for main characters and use as few humans as possible.
I think it's cool to have sex toys play a major role in the game.
Not to mention my Poop Mage Character Class. That's Cool.
I have been told that these things are not considered cool by all.
Go figure.
But if you have things you like to use, then they would be cool for your game.
I'm still not sure how to answer this ... post (I hesitate to call it a question).
I guess the only possible answer is Treasure Items or Variables.
They are the only things on which Event Conditions can be based.
So... If you want a story element to act as a "trigger" then increase a variable during that moment (a conversation, entering a new area, killing a monster, etc) and make the "other" event conditional upon that variable being greater than zero (all variables begin with a value of zero).
I hope that helps.
Sorry for the confusion, but I do not play that many video games and it is a mistake to assume that others do.
I came to this game from the programming side of things, and not the gaming side.
So when people tell me they want something like in a particular game, I am completely unable to help. But I have good logic skills and can help with the ideas once they are properly articulated.
Peace.

No. Not event conditions. FORK conditions. It's in RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 for the PC. Duh.Originally posted by RodakIf you need a fancy name for an event condition then it is you on whom shame should be!

One of the uses for fork conditions is to place a random item in a chest for example.
Speaking of which can you do that using event conditions for this thing?Last edited by Drako; 01-30-2006, 02:15 PM.

Re: Any cool triigers?
I think that there is just a breakdown of communication because of the different way things are called in the different RPG Maker games. Are you talking perhaps about "branches?" In RPG Maker 3, there are conditional branches that have either 2, 3 or 4 different conditions that will trigger different event scripts." I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. " - Jesus

Re: Any cool triigers?
They were released in japan, where they retail for around 90 dollars each. some people decided to make illegal copies of them, translate them, and circulate them on the internet as free software.
and so we dont allow anyone to discuss them here, because if they're in english, they werent obtained legally.
