    Problems setting skills

Ok im having a problem setting skills/magic to become active when gaining a certain treasure item, ive looked through the book, looked through the brave heart demo but cannot find the info i need to turn off the spell/skill until that item is acquired, I've thought about raising the skill/spell level but looking at the demo all of the ones set there for the main character are all set at level 1. I've tried unchecking the skill, but if the character is at or above the level it wont let me,I still have that characters skill in playtest and can only remove it when i modify the characters data in playtest, this has become frustrating, please please pleeeeeeeeeeease help!

set the skill to lvl 99. when the player gets the treasure, set a nearby invisible event for the char to learn the spell/skill. I did this once in Forgotten Isle. A chest containing a magical bow had a nearby event where the bard learns "Flame Arrows". thus, thre is no other way he could learn the skill.

An easier way to do this is to make an event with a treasure chest for the graphic and with 2 modes. Mode one makes the chest open (There's a command for this in the display menu) and gives the character the item and the skill, plus it sets the event to mode 2. Mode 2 displays the message "It's empty" whenever the character tries opening the chest again.

Anyway, welcome, and just for future reference, this really isn't the forum for asking questions about RPGM. This is more of a "general technical problems with the site itself" forum. Just giving you a heads up, so don't be surprised if this gets moved to another forum.
