    Good books

Has anyone read any good books lately? I really need some good literature right about now, because I suddenly have a lot more time in my life.

Right now I've just been reading Terry Pratchett Discworld novels, but I really would like something new...

Read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It is complete with the mafia owning half of California, a redneeck suburb named 'New South Africa', a native American guy that rides a Harley with a nuke in the side car and guts people like fish with glass daggers, and a handheld minigun named 'Reason' that can destroy an oil tanker in 3 seconds flat.

You'll enjoy it, although its 450 pages may be a bit beefy for some. It delves quite heavily into Sumerian religous themes.

I'm reading Catch-22 and re-reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas right now. I like both of them a lot, although I'm only halfway through Catch-22.

Hmm, Catch-22's my favorite book... I think I'll check out Fear and Loathing.
I'll definetely take a look at Snow Crash, and Emerson sounds enticing.

I dunno, Valk...I loved Battle Royale, but the translation I have anyway lives much to be desired.

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. It's a true tale about an escaped Australian prisoner who defects to India and is changed by its people and culture. Absolutely fabulous book. Gets a little bit overbearing in one part, but a solid and meaningful read all the way around. Though, it's nearly 1000 pages long, so not for the day reader.
